Hey guys ... been a while since my accident with the old bike ... all is well.

I'm still rehabbing my foot (mostly just massages / ultrasound to break up the scar tissue and such) but it's getting there. Nothing was ever broken so far as the doctors could tell, just a lot of soft tissue damage.

Anyways, here's the new bike ... same year just in silver and with ABS this time .... picked it up with only 9,800km (6,090 miles for you silly 'Muricans)

    newbike.jpg

Already installed a set of HeliBars on it, an Atlas Throttle Lock, and a Saddleman Touring foam / recovering kit.

Just ordered the mother load of farkles ... still need to order a few other items in addition, but here's the manifest of inbound items:

    #1 - Fuzeblocks FZ-1
#2 - MRA Vario Touring Screen
#3 - BikeMaster Bar Harness: Not really a farkle, but with my new hydraulic bike lift I bought, this will take the pressure off the bars and also keep the straps away from my fairings. Just a good investment.
#4 - Oxford Heaterz Touring Grips: Same ones I had on my last bike. Loved these things, they felt good, put out a lot of heat, and were awesome quality.
    #5 - Brake Light Modulator
#6 - Gerbing Heated Jacket Liner
#7 - Lowered Footpegs: (ordered the Knight ones)

I'm sending various parts in to be powder coated as accent pieces ... right now, I have a used set of Givi racks that I picked up on the cheap to replace the ones that were on my old bike (the luggage survived at the camp site but the racks went with the bike). Even after the powder coat and buying new hardware, it'll still be less than 1/2 the price of new.

Here's the hydraulic bike lift I picked up on the cheap from Kijiji .... it actually takes much longer bikes, I've got it configured in it's most compact form at the moment:

Looks really good Jeff. Good luck on your recovery. Should you have a more recent pic? Like one with a 10' Winnipeg snow bank in the background.
I bet you can't wait for spring...

I really like that lift. The lifts sold at Harbour freight and other places have a huge foot print. When you have a woodworking shop you share with your bike, budgeting space it paramount. Will have yo look for one of those. I hate laying on that fucking cold concrete working on the bike.

You can strengthen you ankles to the point you would never know that you injured it. Depending on injury of course. Experience speaking here. Use of Force training bo bo.

Thanks, man ... it's just a time game now on the healing.

As for the photo ... LOL! Yah, we got hammered here the other week. I just got back from Austin, TX on a business trip and 2 days later we got hit permanently with the white stuff. I had hoped to get in one last ride, but it rained both those two days before the snow and cold. I'm seriously thinking of hauling the bike down south with the wife for a few days over the winter. :)

This is the manufacturer of the lift (I paid $360 CAD used for mine): https://www.kendonusa.com/stand-up-motorcycle-lifts/

As for the ankle, strength isn't the issue, I'm good there - it's mostly in the bottom of the foot now and in the joint . There was a lot of vascular damage and bone bruising ... both are just going to take time. I've been attending my regular boot camp with modified exercises. High impact exercises seem to aggravate the foot / ankle ... if it's low impact with lots of movement, it's fine.

Hi Jeff, that is a great lift, any chance, seeing the snow has come , that you could give us a few measurements on it, too expensive to ship it out here and the standard ones are too heavy and take up too much room. That one looks like you could fold it up and put it in the corner when you are not using it. How stable is it, it would need to be bolted down wouldn't it?

I'd be happy to take some measurements for you one of these weekends! Yes, it will stand up in the corner when not in use.

I doesn't need to be bolted down ... it's super stable, even with it at the max height (engine is eye level when I'm standing up ... I'm 6'0" tall). The bottom 'feet' pull out from the frame a little to help, but it's got a good weight to it and enough width already.

My only complaint is the wheel chock, I'm gong to redesign / weld one on that clamps the front tire. The one that is on there cradles the tire only - although I'm using straps, I'd feel better if it clamped the front wheel.

No problem at all ... I'll make a separate thread for it.

I'll try to get out there this weekend and start some measurements with photos if it doesn't get too crazy. It's Black Friday / Cyber Monday and many of our clients are in the USA / we do eCommerce solutions so it'll be all hands on deck! The weekend should be fine - it's usually quiet in comparison to the two days that frame it. :)

Glad your on the mend Jeff.

BTW, there's a reason it's called an "Imperial" system of measurement. (shut up Randy)

Thanks, guys ... I'll post a lot of photos as the parts come in. :)

Sounds like January 9/10 will be the date I get together with my riding buddies in a heated garage to watch motorcycle movies, drink beer, and plan our summer trips. :)

Well, just had these photos sent to me today ... the used Givi racks I picked up to replace my old ones are freshly powder coated!

They look better than new and I paid less than half the price of buying them brand new, even with the powder coating. :)

Actually more to show support where warranted rather than to emphasize the shortfalls in certain aspects of the human race. I wonder in cockroaches have such examples.

I have SOW blocked so I didn't even see that. WTF does that even mean anyways, and how does it pertain to me getting some Givi racks powder coated for my bike? Nevermind that racks aren't even bling?? LOL

He never makes any sense, and I've always wondered why the institution continues to let him out on day passes and use the computers unsupervised.

I used to financially support scientific research into human behaviour until I discovered they still use car batteries to treat instability.
