I run the Power Bomb header and Q4 set up on my DR 650, very nice sound. Did you see post 26 with gearing question?

Good stuff Norcal. I love restomods. Its nice to see a bike get saved and then built back up even better than it was when it left the factory.

Got some garage time yesterday and today

Went to work on getting the headlight installed and functioning. Had to make a little change to the wiring harness for the light. The harness had ring temrinals to connect the switch, so i chopped those off and added spade terminals to conect up to the HDB switch on the top clamp.

I retrofitted a small HID kit to the stock headlight shell and lens, as the stock headlight isn't really useful

I drilled and tapped the ballast to attach it and used blue anodized Ti ProBolt hardware to mount it all up nice and clean

Got the Shorai installed and tested it out

Next I proceeded to make up a couple small harness items to connect the rear taillights to the stock harness

    Got 'em all hooked up

It's kind of busy so I'm glad there isn't a whole lot more that needs to be conected to the battery...just the fan and the Vapor computer harness is left for now.

Continued on with some carbon parts I had stashed away until the day came where they could be installed

Lightspeed engine case guards went on first

Right side, luckily it had more than enough clearance from the oversize waterpump kit

The left side had to be modified a little to clear the AN fitting for the oil cooler connection

Then the carbon frame guards were installed

    Left Side

The right side has an integrated guard for the rear master cylinder

Next a carbon composite mud guard was added. The guard had to be trimmed to clear the vertical chain slider block

Today I cut the chain to length and got it installed

Next the Hammerhead case protector and Lightspeed carbon sprocket cover were installed with Ti Pro Bolt hardware

last, but not least, the Hammerhead shift lever was installed

I also put the main fuse in and checked the operation of the starter motor, just gave it a quick bump, but that whole circuit is now up and functional too.

I'm hoping that my electrical stuff got delivered today and I should be able to mostly wrap the hard part up....ordered a new stock seat and a Guts Racing stepped seat kit for it and a 14t countershaft sprocket, the 15t puts a lot of stress on the lower chain roller, which I didn't like, so I ordered a Rentahl Ultralight 14t from CRF's only today and I should have it by Friday.

Thanks you guys, I appreciate the kind words. The original intent wasn't to go this far with it, but I got started and just decided to go a little nutty. It sat for the last part of 2013 and all of 2014 because I decided to buy a house and move. So I've been redoing a lot of the house, but seeing it in the garage, I just decided to get it done in 2015. Once it's done I can do some more upgrades to the house and I'm considering a new bike for next year.

Please do another vfr800. The last build was awesome. Take it even further next time around. What ever happened to your VFR?

Sold it to a member here, JTC. Thinking about buying something in an SP version that comes with the Ohlins, Brembo, modern elctronics package and is 90% complete from the factory.....and something that doesn't weigh 500 pounds....

Even if I had the skills and vision, my wife would veto this out of the gate . . .

He chimes in from time to time and has been to a few R3 events, although he missed this year's R3.
