I used OEM on the 750 until I bought the Scotts. At the time the six at a time was much better than local retail which sometimes seems to be up to the parts kids at the various dealers. Case in point.. I still have an account with two major paintmakers. One that I dealt with a bunch has six (count em) price points.

LOL I ain't anal enough to even think about trailing who makes what when it comes to filters. I don't speak Korean, Chinese or SOWese..;)

A friend placed a couple rare earth magnets on the bottom of my pan two years ago and they are still there. Prior to that, no. So I went some 180,000 km or so without. But, anything to remove any metal filings from the oil before it gets recirculated has to be a benefit. Magnets will remain.

Gotta say that the magnetic drain plugs may be somewhat better than rare earth magnets on the pan. Anyway I sure hope those magnets are the little ones and if not I hope you don't have to run over any of those steel plates the road departments often cover work with. You know what they say aboot sudden stops and polarity. " Look mommy an old dude on a flying motorcycle! "

Stuck some of those little ones on my reefer once. Never again.. Thought I'd have to find a crowbar remove them.

Funny we both had this happen on track days on a CBR1000RR on opposite ends of the country. I think K&N is having some issues.
