There's a buy sell area on this site. I think what you might find is to not do the "make me an offer" routine, Best offer ect. Leave that to the EBay'ers and used car and bike sales dudes. Added to your total will be repainting your tank. The Logo is buried so the prep work even with no dings or dents will consume time. The paint itself not including the primer may or not may be a "perfect' match.

A few dings , rash or scratches in ABS is actually an easy fix. Even missing chunks can be grafted in.

Just a heads up.. none of your stuff fits my stuff.

Yup, I'm familiar with how the classifieds section works...

To the OP, if you're looking for a set of affordable new fairings from China, feel free to follow my build thread on VFRD. I had very good results. You can find that thread in the 6th gen forum, it's right on the front page, can't miss it.

If anyone else happens to be in the market for a full set of OEM Italian Red fairings, from a 2002, ping me. I'll eventually get around to listing them for sale, but I'm open to offers in the meantime.

    Ride safe.

    Italian Red is tomorrows RW&B.

Savvy buyers looking at those "best offer" deals, without any reference to asking price are very aware that sellers using that scam, can say anything they want to about the last best offer.

A one act play in one act:

    A, a harleydood:

I have a genuine HD genuine imitation plastic and faux chromed helmet for sale that will identify you with being a true American whilst looking like an SS Officer. The helmet is hecho en Mexco and the best offer takes it.

    B, a noobharleydood:

Would you take 1,000 Pesos or some Loonies or Cruzieros?

A: Sorry Bro I just got an offer of 1,001 Pesos and I don't take that other funny money. If you make me a bigger offer I will keep you in mind.

B: My eternal thanks Bro. I will pray for you.

    Curtain.

Not following you. Are you suggesting that because I've not yet listed my OEM set of fairings for sale in the Classifieds here, with an asking price, that I'm a scammer? I haven't determined what they should be priced at. I quite literally JUST finished taking them off last week. Until I've done some research on what a reasonable asking price is for them, there's no point in me just throwing an arbitrary number out there. Need to lay them out, take decent pics that represents them correctly and honestly. I'm sure much of the membership here is quite educated on the going rate of a good quality set of OEM fairings for a 6th gen, however, I am not. Instead of spewing vitriol and nonsensical accusations about me being a potential scammer, how about helping with what a good asking price would be? There's an idea.

For the record, I saw this thread that referenced my build on VFRD. I replied in here towards the OP, stating that you can indeed purchase quality Chinese kits these days, and posted a few pictures of how my kit turned out. It wasn't until you asked me if I was planning on selling my OEM set, that I even brought that up. So......

Maybe I just completely missed the point of your reply, or maybe I'm just taking it the wrong way. Or maybe, your sense of humor and delivery is lost on me. Could be. If that's the case, I'm sorry in advance. However, If that's not the case, and I'm understanding it exactly how you meant it, then I'm not sorry, and you can move along now.

So back on topic of this thread. Hey OP, your design looks like a great start. If you plan on ordering a kit from China, rest easy that there are some sellers out there that are selling NEAR OEM quality kits. If you'd like to know more about who I purchased from and how my experience went, feel free to PM me or chime in on my build thread on VFRD. I've been answering all questions over there as openly and honestly as possible.

My OEM kit will be available at some point. In the meantime, I'll still be accepting offers and advice at what they should be priced.

    Hi Czargee,

That appears similar to Corvette Flame Red, ala the General Lee. Love it.

Here is the link to VFRD for expedience. I went to the page of the thread where he receives his fairings and begins the build. The first 24 pages detail his back and forth with Auctmarts (sp?) in getting his scheme designed and painted, oh and bragging about his GF! Haha!

Yup, that person is me. Thanks for linking, I wasn't sure about the rules of cross forum linking here. Appreciate it...

And she's not my girlfriend, she's my wife, together for 19 years. And I brag about her to anyone that will listen. :) I'm an attention whore, no doubt. Still can't believe she stays with me. I chain her to the floor so she can't escape. So there's that..... ;)

Was just bringing some hot sauce to an otherwise boring build thread.

Enjoy the read. Pick my tank up on Thursday and Sebspeed is doing my clutch cover now.

Asking me to re-write my play is akin to asking Arthur Miller to rewrite Death of a Salesman.

Would you take ten bucks for all those parts? I promise on the grave of Richard Nixon that they are only worth that. Pick up the shipping and you got a deal!

Sold! I'll cover shipping too, no problem. But handling is gonna be like $700.00. That's where they get ya, the damn handling...

Okay, I think I've got your e-personality down now. I like it...

    Well played.

I want to see the part aboot when the paint dude tells him that for the pesos he could have had the OEM plastic fixed and all the parts including the tank repainted to his design. Tank covers?? LOL

What is seldom mentioned about automotive and bike painting in general is that there are levels of not so much quality as efficiency. The big boys in the paint game ie the manufacturers of both the materials and equipment vary a lot.

Some shops are in the business of fixing fender benders. At the other end of the scale are the custom shops that do restorations and megabuck rods. The big boys in that end of the game are also have their own "mix stations" many having their own dedicated computer station and software. One might surmise that the cost is going to be astronomical using the high end dudes. Not so in all cases. An example:

Harleydood wants his bike repainted in one of the HD colors with a graphic on the tank that spells oot " I love Grandma" (??) done in a contrasting Kandy Kolor with some sparkly shit tossed in.

Buying all this from House of Kolor or the local retail paint and body shop supplier is going to jack up the price, The dudes with the mix stations have the stuff already including the formula. So, instead of having to pop for as much as a couple of hundred pesos for the sparkly shit in a 4oz package, the upscale joint uses maybe half a gram leaving granny twitching with happiness, harleydood able to subtly proclaim he may or may not be a pervert and they all lived happily ever after.

Some, but not as many shemales as others of a different persuasion. According to the latest poll the French are being weaned away from froggies and are developing a nationwide taste for kittyburgers with Grey Poupon.

After my diesel-inspired crash I think I'll be getting some parts off Auctmarts for my 5th gen too. I pulled my crashed bits off last night and I think by the time they are plastic welded, prepped and painted (the top fairing, right side and tail) I'll be up for much more that the USD280 delivered that Auctmarts have offered me. I just need to convince myself that the colour match will be reasonable. Much as I love my VFR, I need to be realistic, it is 16 years old and has 91000km, so there's no point spending too much on the repair. The tank has a small dent that I will leave as a reminder!

The cat photo is great, one of SOW's?
And Billy, that is the first reference to a remora I have ever seen on a cycle forum, extra points for the sucker fish. Quick thread jack, I was fishing, just caught a nice size king fish, threw him in the cooler. Baited up another whole sardine on my favorite lucky rod. As I walked to the stern I slipped on fish slime from the king fish, set my rod down, took a bucket of water and poured it on deck. as I turn to get my rod I'm just in time to see a remora grab my bait as it was tipping into the water from the rocking of the boat. My favorite rod takes off plunges into the blue to never be seen again. Extra hate for them now.
