So, did he crash or pull this off?

Someone posted this on Facebook. I know I've gotten pretty low on my 6th Gen, but I am wondering if this rider pulled this off or crashed.

He's already leaned and hasn't even hit the apex. My vote is he low-sided.

You can see sparks flying already but I would imagine that if this turned out to be a low side, there would be subsequent images of the crash. But based on the photo alone, it does look like a low side was imminent. Then again, feeling the pegs scrape, he might have made corrective measures to prevent a crash. Inquiring minds want to know!

From the white specs coming off the left side, looks like he already shaping his peg. Expensive frame sliders on the rear! How do we find out?

I just don't understand some people. This is a sport-touring bike. If you wanna lean over, drop $2000 on some GSXR-600 that some idiot dropped in a parking lot, then spend $1000 on used ohlins front and back - poof, instant sport bike that will obliterate the VFR in respect to handling.

Or you could, you know, do $3000 in damage TO your VFR trying to ride it like a $3000 sport bike.

    Whatchu talkin bout willis?

Some of us aren't riding those delicate little V-Tecs. my VFR is a $2K bike on a good day. I've used it on plenty of sport rides. Still haven't replaced the right peg feeler I lost out in the desert canyons.

That is Sebastian AKA Sebspeed from VFRDiscussion. He pulled it off. There are a series of pictures leading up to and after that shot. The guy is a great rider, incredible fabricator, and just an all around cool dude. He makes a clear clutch cover for 4th, 5th, 6th, and I believe the 7th gen VFR's. Just recently he revealed his 4th gen streetfighter that is absolutely stunning.

Yep, I ride my '01 like I stole it! Bought it for the specific purpose of being my "play bike"! Sometimes I'll even ride my '09 rather sportingly and have no reservations about it. Yes I can go and get one of those other "sport bikes" but it looks more impressive when you can keep up with, or better yet, leave behind certain bikes that are supposedly "better than yours". Going to take it the track soon and break even more "rules" about how one should ride a VFR!

I got zero peg feelers left on my 91 but that was when i was living in North Jersey. Now I am older and wiser. I did walk by my Ysr50 and cut my leg by scraping the razor sharp foot pegs. New 93 gets my boot pucks in turns. Its never like it used to be, you get older and wiser and add sometimes get faster. I think the doode scraped his bags and went on to fight another day. Cheers

For those into the illusion of speed, be very careful when filing off peg feelers to get the angle right.

Other cool shit is to do what the lowriders do and get some really long high fraction magnesium bolts that toss showers of sparks. Big hits at bike nights.
