I can't load that page, Mohawk? Maybe just me.

Interested in hearing yours knowing that you're one of the actual fast guys out there.

Nice job there Mohawk, matching gear and all. I tell ya the sound of these vfrs when coming back down to idle is just wicked cool, love how they change when going through the rpms. BTW Mohawk nice bike ;) in doing all you've done, is it stock compression? was thinking I hear a slight extra bark there. then man add that gear whine, Sweat music right there. win win.

A two brothers racing fifth gen header merged to a two brothers sixth gen slip on.

Hahah what's up, fellow Oneplus One owner?

Love your setup. Assuming that it wouldn't sound nearly as throaty with simply the slip on? Looking into getting an 8th gen and am getting some ideas as to what slip-ons to consider.

Lol ugh this phone. I wish it was a Honda. Maybe then I'd know how to actually use it lol.

Okay back to the exhaust. Honestly it depends on what you're into, weight reduction, power, sound quality, sound level etc.

My favorite sound was factory gutted mufflers. This won't do really anything for power or weight reduction, but man did they sound great.

Then I tossed on a motad header. That dropped some weight and added some more sound. It didn't add any power though.

Then I got a two brothers slip on. THAT DROPPED A LOT OF WEIGHT. The factory slip on is 27 pounds. Two brothers carbon is maybe 5 pounds with dual mufflers and 3 pounds when you ditch the dummy can. Even though it didnt really add any hp it was definitely worth it for the weight savings alone. The sound changed, maybe a little louder. It still sounded great, I just like the gutted cans more.

Then I finally found a two bros header. It Has way bigger diameter primaries 35mm, than factory 6th gen 31mm, motad/fifth gen 33mm. Also there is no cat like the 6th gen or sound deadening material like the 5th gen and motad. So your left with a header that is a lot louder and actually makes a lot of power up top. It has more rasp, if you're into that, it still sounds great, just a lot more visceral and race ready than a normal deep mellow VFR.

But yes, a lot of the throatiness comes from the large bore catless headers and their lack of sound deadening material in the collector. A few of us have managed to find the old two brothers and erion racing headers, Mohawk, Highsidenz and a few others. I am sure there will be some popping up on the classifieds or ebay, but you'll probably have to troll hard for a year or two before you find one. There is a thread going on right now, trying to get them manufactured, there is about 25 guys signed up so far.

I'm probably not going to be chasing any solid performance gains (although the weight savings is definitely something I'd be interested in) so the headers will probably not be on my shopping list but then again, after hearing your setup it's hard not to put it on the wishlist. Just out of curiosity; how much did the headers run you?

You've definitely got me interested in gutting the stock slip on. I've also been thinking of looking into the 1200 muffler, seeing if that will work on an 8th gen and gutting that although I need to do a mockup and see how it'd look. If it's too gaudy I'd rather go with aftermarket seen as how they're not much different in terms of price.

By the way, if you need any help with the phone, drop me a PM.

I paid a small fortune for those headers, unfortunately. When I finally found a set, the seller was a guy in Canada that knew exactly what he had. He wanted $800 plus shipping and he wouldn't budge. They were structurally solid, but aesthetically rough, plus they are not really a bolt on for a sixth gen. So long story short I cut the two brothers full system mide pipe at the header exit side, then cut my sixth gen two brothers slip on at the header exit side and mergeged the two together at the proper angle so it looks like a true sixth gen full system. Then I had the whole thing ceramic coated, so it doesn't look like the 15 year old exhaust that it really is lol.

About a year before I pulled the trigger on my current one, I saw one on eBay, in better condition, for $700. I wish I would have jumped on that one. They were out there and the may still be out there, but they are made out of pure almostunobtanium.
