I would not change the sub frame for a few pounds-ruins the bike. The vfr is a sport touring bike not speed racer!:spankme:

The bike is whatever you choose it to be. You don't have to change anything you don't want to change. But I will guarantee that a 470 pound VFR with 110 true hp is a lot more fun to ride than a 600 pound VFR with 90 true hp. The box is there for people who are better suited to staying inside one.

I think Norcalboy chose to be SOW too.

Just for fun, how many pesos would it cost to turn one of the Vtech Vfrs into a sub 500 lb. 100+ hp fastr guy bike in today's pesos?. Just the parts and not including the subframe change since that alone if it were be fashioned in unobtanium or even cheap carbon fibre would probably buy an MV Agusta or at least a nice down payment on one.

The benefits would be mostly to stand around in tropical frog leathers at any bike night within 100 miles or so preening and pontificating whilst dusting the bike with a Swiffer all at the same time.

    A la harleydood.

Pity the suspension wasn't designed to handle all that

I do it because I am interested in implementing technologies and processes to gain a better understanding of how a machine can be made to work better when the proper mixture of technologies and engineering principles are applied. I work with talented engineers, mathematicians, and technicians every day and we are all doing something similar in our spare time. We do it because we love it. We did not choose it, it chose us.

I do it because I enjoy learning by doing it. I do it because I enjoy doing it. I don't paint, I don't sculpt, but I do appreciate and enjoy building two wheeled machines where each part has been carefully considered, looked at in great detail and recreated or changed if there is a better solution. I look at these machines as intricate pieces of art and that they should be treated as such. I also believe they each are a living and breathing entity. I enjoy riding the machines I assemble and I have a deep appreciation for those that ride at a level to which I never will. I am a fan.

There are tens of thousands, if not millions, of people just like me who make up the motorcycle enthusiast community. This community would have died a long time ago if everyone was just like you, and I'm certainly happy to say I am nothing like you and hope that I never become anything close to being like you. I'll bet all my pesos I never will.

From this can we draw that bi-polarity in the motorcycle community is on the rise?

With you it is always WE, like somehow your comments are the collective comments of an entire website. Quit being a coward and own your own shit. You wanna come at me, talk your troll crap and be a smart ass, at least have the balls to do it alone.

With thousands and millions on your side, the differentiation between I and we only requires the addition of a single person. Sort of makes your challenge like playing against a stacked deck. To further clarify, think of we as in "We the people" rather than The Royal We.

If indeed you have been diagnosed as bi-polar or IMO should be examined for the condition, the hazards are several chiefly having an episode whilst riding could lead to road-rage or taking the chance of pissing off some dude twice your size and half your age who will kick your ass just for the fun of it.

I will keep posting and you can keep coming up with inane expalanations for your douchebaggery. I like to see you put some effort into it. You work on typing and new put downs and insults and I'll keep working on my bikes. We can keep each other entertained. :smiley_simmons:

I'm going to have some new stuff to post in the What Have You Done To Your VFR Today? thread soon, I hope you like it!

I couldn't agree more. It is actually making me consider another VFR project. Time to start considering what it would take and what it would be.....

I'm sticking to the $.25 diet books as the least expensive method although the MV Agusta would be more to my liking.

What would be really great would be to let us know that you sold the VFR and will be on the hunt for another before doing some dream bike in your head. The input of guys finding bikes and parts for sale here is really cool. I hope this doesn't interfere with your current project oot of spite.

Expalnations? We were never pals. LOL

Ok, so, back to the topic. If you're handy and adventurous, you can try your hand at a carbon fiber gas tank. Our steel tanks are quite hefty, so this would shave a good amount off. If I ever pass my PE, I'm gonna make me one of these for shits and giggles...
