    Just had this done on my Gen 6. MUCH smoother at low RPMs. Noticeable improvement on gas mileage (almost 3 MPG more), slightly louder due to intake noise but more than acceptable. Very satisfied

    Nice pictures, have'nt really been into these bikes but enjoy reading and looking at the pictures :thumbsup: did this to my two gen 3 bikes with no regret, my ninja 500 I left intact and will continue to, really comparing apples and oranges. Good job.

    What a coincidence, I have some PAIR block-off caps coming so this was a nice thing to have pop up. I didn't figure it would be too bad of a job, but ya never know.

    To block off the airbox spigot, use a 5/8" chair leg protector

    I did not see it noted anywhere here that PAIR block off shouldn't have any affect unless you are FI and have O2 sensors. So it wouldn't give any benefit unless you're 2000 and 2001 gen 5. You can block the PAIR on a dyno and see zero change.

    I'm telling you, I have a 1998 & it dramatically improved the performance under 3000 rpm. No O2 sensors.

    From my reading (and experience with 1990 & 1998 bike), the VFR is not widely known for having low RPM issues until they put FI and O2 sensors on it. If you study the system, it can't have any affect unless you run a closed loop feedback system (O2 sensors). If yours had a low RPM issue, maybe there was some other problem with the PAIR like a vacuum leak or reed valves failing to seal.

    Not here to debate and I've said my peace. No desire to derail this further. Anyone interested in facts can do their own research.

    Gawd I hate it when facts and real life don't get along. I did the PAIR block off on my '99 and it has made the low rpm smoother, not a huge difference, but noticeable nonetheless. But I also disabled the flapper valve, so that might be part of it too.

    Disabling the flapper thereby eliminating the velocity effect of the snorkel and reducing low end power is sure to smooth thing out a touch.
