There are 3-4 perfectly able people at my workplace who use these parking spots and have blue cards hanging off their rear view mirrors. Ironically, all of them can walk like normal people all the time. They probably underwent some surgery sometime in their lives when they got these stickers and never returned them/stopped using them. One of them is a 400 Lb dude who eats pizza and fried chicken 5 days a week for lunch, and yes he is handicapped since he is fat :chaingun: I also see these kind of overweight and obese people at Walmart all the time in their battery operated carts (and they buy chips and soda supply that I do not eat in a few years probably) and wonder, what a pain to themselves and society.

This leads to the true deserving handicapped people not being able to use these spots. I know someone with polio who keeps complaining about these people taking up the spots that they deserve. We live in a crooked world.

The timing on this thread is perfect. I get so tired of people not giving a shit about anyone else but their own selves.

This morning on the way to work, I stopped off at a local convenience store and pulled into a parking space (there were plenty). I noticed a 18 or 19 y.o. kid parked - with no handicapped tag - in the handicapped space in front of the entrance. I thought I'd have a little fun with him and teach him a lesson.

When I got out of my car, I noticed he was also tossing an empty cup out of his window onto the ground. So I walked up in front of his car, looked him squarely in the eye, tapped on the Handicapped Parking sign and said, "Hey! See this sign? This space is for handicapped people. Do you have a handicapped tag?"

    He shook his head.

So I followed, "..And pick up that trash you threw on the ground. Your mother doesn't work here and isn't going to pick up after you."

His eyes were wide (I think I probably spooked him a little) and he asked, "Who ARE you??"

I shot back with, "I'm your worst nightmare. Time to grow up and take responsibility, kid." I walked inside the store and watched him. He immediately got out of the car, picked up the empty cup and threw it away, and then drove off. In the future, I think he'll think twice before parking in a handicap spot again.

Yeah, Duc, the tossing of the cup out the window when there was a trash can less than 10 feet away did it.

I'm not a bully and don't like bullies. I'm 6'2" and a solid 220. And I've got a deep voice. I can be intimidating when I need to be, which thankfully isn't that often. I don't know if what I said to that kid was right or wrong but I just wanted to scare him enough to consider NOT doing that again. It felt like the right thing to say.

And don't get me started on the colossal levels of obesity I see here everyday; people who eat themselves to death and then want to park their fat asses right by the door because they're too fat to walk. I see it every day at work, it's just astonishing. No sense of responsibility or respect for one's self or anyone else for that matter.

Whew. Sorry about the rant. I take my time on the road seriously and see prolific levels of ignorance daily. It wears on me sometimes. I need to get out of town on my bike for a long weekend. I wish I could this weekend for the holiday but have some home improvements that need to be done instead. Oh well. My favorite time of the year to ride is coming.

The current blub says "all is forgiven" and the dude can still buy a half soy gluten free organic chai mocha latte at that Starbucks. The kicker is the tag at the bottom of the page that adds a crock of shit to the cuppa.

We are working with the landlord of the property where this store is located to improve the parking situation. It is our goal to provide a warm, friendly and positive experience for all of our customers.

That landlord unless he or she is Donald Trump (She? OMG!) is more than glad to have Starbucks in there. Starbucks big Kahuna is Seattle based Howard Shultz who is another guy who gives away pesos to the deserving. A tenner says as soon as he gets wind of this whole crock of crap, somebody is gonna be lookin for a new barista gig and a new place to park.

Small world. I went to lunch yesterday at a local sushi spot and saw a late model Nissan Maxima without a placard or plates in the ONLY handicap spot available on that side of the shopping center (one of the side-access van spots that BadBilly mentioned.) So I went in to eat and began to bide my time and determine who the asshole was. By the time we were all finished up, there was a young couple around my age exiting out of the same door as my party; they were wearing gym clothes and seemed to be in great physical condition. The guy even had on a shirt that you can only get from running in a marathon that we hold here every year. Guess who got in the Maxima.....

My colleagues didn't think I would say anything to them, but of course I was a total asshole about it. I hope I ruined their day.

If y'all like the "gotchas" for the assholes (we all have one hopefully) who pull this crap, Utube is loaded with them. One in particular is called "People Behaving Badly" from a SanFran TV station.

Rep Orlo Rollo (R) from Wisconsin has introduced HB 124a that allows all Harley owners to have a handicapped placard.
