Ok: 1st off I never do this but here goes. I own an 1985 VF1000F. I found a place called Gustafsson Plastics. I found that I could get a windscreen that was 4" longer then stock. I thought awesome. So I ordered it one that was 4" taller and dark smoke. Waited 4 weeks before it came. I opened it up excited to see it. I noticed that it was not dark smoke, but medium. No big deal, I thought. Read all instruction before proceeding. Then I went to install it and it does not come even close to where it should fit. I mean the cut out where the wind rushes is in is way off. The bottom end with the little rounded edges are to long. The side of it is way to wide. So before proceeding. I emailed Gustafsson plastics to see how they would help. Well that has now turned into 5 e-mails in 4 weeks without a response. I am very upset, needless to say $170 later and I have a windscreen that does not fit. The company apparently will not help me. Beware
Sounds like they sent a FII screen. The FII screen looks more like the 1000R screen than the 1000F screen. Other than Canada, the 85 was normally the FII model. It was not available in the states at all. Easiest way to tell the FII screen from the F screen is the air inlet opening. The F has a rectangle opening fully inside the screen, the FII screen has opening at the lower edge of the screen, with only three sides closed by the screen.
Bear: Thanks for input, however I know exactly what the F11 screen looks like. It is nothing like the F screen. My 85 is exactly like the 84 model. It is a Canadian version. The color scheme is changed thats it. It comes close to fitting but everything is off 1/4" or so. I am just upset that the company will not stand behind there product. 2 things wrong ,color and size. Color I can deal with, size,,,,,,not fitting,,,,,,no way. Like I said, totally willing to gut Gustafsson plastic time to fix. They however seem to have my money and do not care. At least this is the way I feel, and by there actions this "is" the way it is. Once again, beware of this company.
