    Hello yall,

I am new to this forum and the bike lol. I bought me 2003 vfr800 abs in april 2015(had a rebel 450 before it). I did some basic modifications to it like lowering triangle mod, drilling the triple tree to put superbike bars.

I did a 1056 mile saddle sore ride on 4th of july, 2015. It was fantastic! Bike ran like a champ. I could not take much photos, but here is one I took right when I crossed into Ohio from WV. IMG_0168.jpg

Hoping to do another one next spring. Going to try for the Border to Border Insanity again....third try. I am confident I will get the simple Border to Border in 36 hours but the insanity is 24 hours. According to Google, I should be able to do it in about 23 1/2 hours.

I have Michelin 2ct installed. I previously had Kenda on my 450rebel, so performance is pretty awesome compared to that lol! But often I feel that the rear tire is trying to slip out under above average acceleration. especially when I slow down and rev up around toll booths(they have a lot of residual oil on pavement)

I think I might have to adjust chain soon as it makes a lot of noise when engine breaking. Have you adjusted chain before? does it neeed any special Honda tool because I do not have the OEM toolkit lol

The noise you describe could be a loose chain. It may be time for replacement for that matter. Too hard to say without looking at it. You should be checking your chain on a regular basis. I have adjusted mine quite often. Then again, I have really put on the miles. I have replaced the chain and sprockets numerous times over the 190,000 km I have put on.

Yes, you need a spanner tool. If you haven't got one, you should be able to get on from the numerous bike parts stores on line. I just don't have a link off hand. Youi may be able to jerry rig something to work in its place, I don't know. I have never had the need to try. I think you may be able to get one from Motorcycle Superstore or like places.

You should get yourself a service manual. That will explain the proceedures. They used to be available here in PDF but that link has long been broken. YOu may find it over on VFRDiscussion though.

So I tightened the chain yesterday. It was pretty easy.
