I'm thinking about selling the VFR again. It is a great sport-bike and a comfy long-distance tourer, but with the GS Adv in the garage I just never seem to choose it for longer trips. Someone else would get a heck of a lot more use out of this machine than me. I'm really planning on getting to some track school/days next year and am considering something more focused like a new 600rr for those days and the occasional early morning <100 mile Sunday ride. The downside of using the VFR for the track is the fact that it is in excellent condition, and I'd hate to dump it. On the other hand, it's paid for. Opinions?
Since I don't know your riding ability/age/physical & financial condition, it's pretty difficult to answer you question. You can get track bodywork for the 4gen which is pretty cool and cheaper than buying another bike you'll only ride a few times a year. Then if you need a better track bike, you can put the stock bodywork back on and sell it.
Looks like a bone-stock, great condition example to me! It should sell well. No one can answer your question better than you. If the cash in pocket, or toward a track tool is more attractive than hanging on to it, let it go. If you get the cash or track bike and hate yourself for letting go the best gen VFR ever  then keep it.
Thanks for the reply. Riding ability on the street: Advanced, but I ride within limits as you should on the street. That's why I want to hit the track. Sport-bike experience is: 10yrs and 30k miles on an FZR1000. 4,800 miles on a CBR954, 3,800 miles on an RC-51. Mostly twisty back roads, not highway. 16k cruising on a VTX1800 and 6k of on/off road, hwy, and twisties on a BMW 1200GS Adv. 5'11. Decent shape. 36yrs old. Finances not an issue, but would probably sell the VFR before adding another bike to the stable. I am not looking for a dedicated track bike, but one that would do 90% street/ 10% track duty. The 600rr looks like a decent fit, but I'd also be interested in seeing the body-work if you have a link or a name. Thanks for the help!
