Anyone else talking RACING?! <--- of the motorcycle type

Van der Mark rumored to be subbing for Abraham at the Assen MotoGP round......tough schedule, considering he's also racing Suzuka for the third time and his WSBK commitments. With wildcards so few and far between these days, it will be interesting to see how VDM does at his home GP. With the loss of Rea to the green guys, Honda needs to step their support of this guy. With the 200 units Honda is expecting to deliver of the 213VS.....that would mean the bike could potentially be homologated to race in WSBK in 2016....

 

I know Biaggi is a feel good story for some, but I would much rather support PJ than some semi-retired Eyetalyun dude that needed an army of shrinks to get him over what Rossi did to him mentally...I think it is complete and utter BS that young riders can't get support, but yet they keep bringing back all these retired guys to fill seats that could go towards giving younger riders a shot. And yes, I'm talking to you too, Bayliss.

I would love to see more support for PJ and V Mark too. They are banking on short term seat sales for Max and Troy showing up. Its fun to see the old guys but support for new racers is a longevity must.

I have not figured out the points but Rea must be close to not having to podium for the rest of the year...... Man can he brake deep. Honda are you watching him?!

 

It's funny, the commentators were saying that Rae just needed a good bike and that he would be winning and low and behold he's almost unstoppable! According to them, he's finished on the podium every race so far and has not gotten anything less than secon place! I haven't double checked but if memory serves me, that seems to be correct. Other than VDM's 3rd place in Assen, the Hondas seem to be only getting 6th or 7th place consistently.

Maybe if Honda would have put all the effort into building a "people's" version of a V4 racing machine rather than the RC213 made from "unobtanium", VDM would be at least where Haslam is right now! That Kawi seems to be pretty unbeatable at the moment, either with Rae or Sykes on board.

 

Kawasaki is the only WSBK team that is actually doing any type of serious development work. Aprilia is doing some, but the work being done on the MotoGP chase bike is certainly affecting how much money and effort is going into the Aprilia WSBK program. Aprilia is a small company when viewed in the context of cubic dollars and they lost Dall'Igna to Ducati. Yamaha is completely MIA until next year. When you are the only official factory team in the paddock, it's blatantly obvious why the Kawasaki is the best machine.

Honda's involvement is pretty low to practically nonexistent. Ten Kate have actually done a decent job considering evolution of the Fireblade died a long time ago. The CBRR needed a makeover 5 years ago, but yet Rea was able to actually win races. That should have been enough of an indicator, if Honda were serious and had long term plans for him. If that wasn't enough, his replacement rides on the Repsol 213V should have sealed the deal. They never had any plans to help Rea further his career, it was painfully obvious.

 

Rea is 28 now. I think he knows its his time now and he is taking full advantage of a decent ride. If I remember correctly he did wildcard Moto Gp ride 3 years ago or so in Laguna. Always wondered if he would make the jump.

Rea had two races in MotoGP in 2012 at San Marino and Aragon. A ninth and a seventh were respectable finishes considering no prior experience. Scott Redding is floundering around on a ride Rea definitely deserved. I will never be a Redding supporter for this very reason.
