Do you fuel your bike while on the center stand or the kickstand?

I've seen this question come up before. I put it on the sidestand, and get off the bike before fueling. Many many years ago I spilled some gas down the tank while fueling the bike while sitting on it. I ended up with some seriously chemically burned testicles, and have never tried it again.

I use the center stand. Even when I park it, 95% of the time.

Centerstand. Unless I don't have a centerstand, then I just hold it upright.

Oh I bought a china spout on ebay, the store only sells cans with no spill-no gas spout,. the china ebay one works ok. I spill maybe a few drops of gas and just wipe it off with a rag-add a touch of techron to keep everything clean. I never fill the tank -the bike then wants to fall over. Only on a real long trip would I fill tank up.

I rarely dismount to refuel just hold it upright with legs and brim it. About twice a year I feel the urge to add some gumout complete fuel system cleaner. Don't know if a treatment every 10k miles does anything other then make me feel better. ~done rambling

Just how much more fuel can you get in when the bike is on the center stand vs side stand? Is that amount worth the effort and time to get off the bike and put up on the center stand, then get it back down? I have done both. But for me, usually on the side. About the only time I put on the center, is if I am doing a long trip. At highway speeds, I suggest you get about another 15 miles out of that tank. In that time, you probably have passed 5 filling stations.

    But each to their own.

It is not allowed to fuel up sitting on the bike here in my part of Australia as the risk of over filling and spilling on to a hot engine/exhaust is too great a risk for the gas stations to allow the practice

So I use the center stand if on a trip (some gas stations can be well over 400 km's apart here)

and around town just on the sidestand

I think it is 500ks from Swan Hill to Broken Hill there is only one shop/roadhouse/fuel stop sort of thing with maybe 2 bowsers, might have a diesel pump as well. Miss that one and you are going to be in serious trouble, good thing is there a bit of traffic using the road so if you got into trouble you could flag somebody down

Same here in SA. Don't know if it's actually law, but some garages will refuse fuel you up unless you dismount.

Kickstand, I am with Randy, not worth the hassle for an extra couple of CC's of gas. The '14 has a plate at the bottom of the filler opening, which is the limit for filling. We have the vapor recovery hoses in CA, which if you did it correctly would only fill the tank part way. So I get off the bike, insert nozzle, pull back the hood to release gas and watch it closely, fill to the bottom of the plate as the manual recommends.

Neither one of my Gen3 bikes have centre stands, so the answer is; they are fueled off the bike on their respective side stands. The Ninja 500 has a centre stand and gets fueled on it all the time. Just the way it is.

Australia does not allow you to fuel your bike while your sitting on it? Are you sure your not in Germany? There is applied sarcasm here, hope you "get-it" Jeez, when I lived in NJ, if I so desired when I was fueling up in the winter with all my electric chit on, and did'nt feel like unplugging from the bike, I would roll up close enough to the pump and insert said credit card and do the fueling. Most times, it was easier to just get off the bike.

A china funnel? WTF? Are you a real person? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkzBLItvb_U think your a sham, maybe you wear a shambana instead of a bandana :loco:

just post here to check out Jevs' latest avitar, Ride safe and FTW,

In Oregon, gas stations have paid gas pumpers. Most of them hand ya the filler valve. I don't know if they do this with harleydoods or not. I don't watch them much when they are stationary. When they are moving is a different story.

Side stand here. I sure wouldn't ever put the bike up on the center stand to fuel it, if you can get anymore fuel in, it isn't enough to be worth it. I've considered filling it while seated on it, but figure the risk of gas in the crotch and funny looks isn't worth it. Not to mention that I often have a tank bag that needs to be placed somewhere, I'd probably still lean it over on the side stand, and you have to park just right to be able to reach the input pad and credit card slot, but not too close... ugh, I'm too lazy to be that lazy.

If you really wanted to get the most of gas in the vfr -put on center stand and use a small can of gas-its much easy to fill tiny amounts with a small can of gas. When I get end :party2:eek:f gas in can it just trickles out a few drops. This way you get the most possible in the tank-the over flow will leak some gas on ground however. this is not the dumbest question, that belongs to the BB fan club of trolls planting PEDO traps on bridges.

So you guys that fuel while on the bike, do you have the vapor collecting nozzles in your state? We do and you have to skin back the boot to get a full tank. Also if you're sitting on it you can't see what your doing because the tank lid is in the way . I feel more comfortable looking in the tank when it starts to get full.
