Is there any such thing as 'too hot to ride?'

I live where we get many extremely hot months every summer.
The bike will be fine, worry about yourself.
I soak a shirt in cold water and keep hydrated.
Over 100F is common here in the shade, sadly in the sun when riding its a lot hotter than that.

    1. I could not live in Houston. I would kill somebody. I suggest you move.

    2. Google Water Wetter for more thorough info. Basically, drain & flush your system, refill with distilled water and WW. Has no protective abilities against freezing, but based on item 1, that doesn't seem like a concern.

    3. I hope you're not serious about mesh being better than a Tshirt? There are plenty of quality mesh products out there - jackets, pants, gloves. Will they work as good as leather or textile - probably not. Most mesh gear is designed for one and done: lay it down once, it'll do what its supposed to do, but garbage after that. Yes, it will protect you while sliding down the pavement. My kid used to ask me why I got fully geared up just to run 2 miles down the road to the store. So I told him to run as fast as he could, and then go slide on the road. He get's it now.

Houston is not a great place to off someone. You go to Huntsville and then to the big Texas in the sky. One must not be askeerd of bigass cockroaches and other folks who talk funny.

Spot on aboot the perfed stuff... The compromise is fabric. The good stuff (jackets) aside from quality construction and high quality fabric will have plenty of venting capability and attenuation at various junctures. A good example IMO, are the specs on an Aerostitch jacket.

That reminds of one time I was in the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel on a 98 degree day in stop and go and between the fumes and the heat briefly blacked out and woke up in the next lane somehow upright. Guardian Angel was with me that day.

^wild!!! Craziest road that I rode on was the Gawanas expressway. I wonder what state has more licensed/unlicensed gun owners, FL, TX or CA. Been to TX, not really fun. As far as hot weather goes, I will put South FL up against ya'LL. It's a freaking hot day today, got a 32 mile ride each way, takes aboot 30 minutes and sometimes i barely put a foot down. My go to suit/riding gear is a one piece Aerostich suit. It could be close to 100 degrees and i swear i barely sweat my pits until i get to the last mile or two. Those mesh jackets i cant stand, just me though - they are only good for one "get-off" too. Usually don't go out on the weekends but if i do, i don a perffed oot leather jacket with the rest of the MC stuff. Cheers ride safe
