I recently got into a wheel bender, and am currently looking for a replacement front wheel. I found a 4th gen front that is straight but want to be sure of the fitment before I purchase it.
I used the search and found a couple threads but nothing specific. ..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am told by ToeCutter that 5th gen can use a fourth gen wheel but not the other way around.

I say I am told because I do not know having never tried it.

This is true. The reason is that the 3rd and 4th Gens do not have a flat hub surface, they have the sprocket nut/bolts protruding into the wheel side of the hub, thus requiring a notch in the wheel's mating surface.

    3rd and 4th Gen wheel...

Mixing up front and rear. OP asked about front wheels, 4th and 5th are not interchangeable. Rear wheels are a different story as mentioned above.

'98 - '01 were the same fronts. '02 they went to 43mm forks but I think it may just be wheel spacers that are different, wheel remained the same to '09. Need someone to confirm that. Have you checked the wheel part number in any of the online catalogues?

edit: the catalogue lists the front wheel assembly with wheel spacers so different part numbers. Couldn't find just the wheel part #. I still think they're the same '98 - '09 but don't take my word on it.

5th & 6th front wheels are interchangeable. Even if the 6th gen wheel came off an ABS model. I swapped my 5th gen wheels that I powdercoated to my 6th gen without issue.

I'm looking at maybe swapping my 5th gens wheels for wheels from a 6th gen abs, hope they are a direct swap, would I need different spacers for the front wheel?
