You Know You're Getting Old When:

You know your getting old when you are in need of hearing aids. Yup. Got the news today and pre-authorization sent away to the RCMP to pay for these things. Good news, if they cover them, then there is a disability pension that goes with it.

I was worried that hearing aids would hurt the ears wearing them inside our helmets. The digital ones they let me try in the office were great. I pushed against the ear lobes and could not feel the hearing aid behind the ear at all..nadda, not a fooken thing.

I can feel the floor shake. I think the wife is shouting at me.

 

Sorry man, gettin old ain't fer wimps...

 

The good new. Don't like what I am hearing, I can turn down the hearing aids. "Sorry Dear! What was that? You want to go bar hopping? Oh! Flower shopping. No thanks."

I am right there with ya. My wife got tired of shouting at me so now i am a hearing aid wearer. I do not wear mine inside my helmet (that just don't fit) but i do have a Uclear communication systems that acts as a hands free phone and music player so i don't miss much. It was funny to hear the birds again. They make a huge racket.

 

I can hear the fucking birds just fine. They start making a racket just before the peak of dawn, which here, at this time of the year, is about 4 am. Right now, the only good thing is that it is hot enough here that the windows are kept closed at night and the AC left running. Fucking Robins are the worst. Too bad they are protected here as a song bird, and too goddam small for the roaster.

 

You know you're getting old when people ask your ID for senior discount.

 

You know you are old when they stop asking and just give you the discount

 

When the student teachers at school are younger than your daughter.

 

You know your getting old when you hear your kids discussing their pension plans and retirement investments. Not that this is not a great idea.....but.

 

True story: You know you are getting old when my wife and I were visiting my parents at their assisted living community and we were stopped by one of the inmates who asked us if we had just moved in!

 

I have had gray hair since my late 20s and I have a full on gray beard. I have been getting the senior discount since I was in my early 40s.

 

When you still notice the creaking floor and your actually walking on your lawn!
