Was at Sun Honda in Thornton Co yesterday and saw a 1st gen 750 VFR (I think 1986) for sale. It was absolutely, 100% indestinguishable from brand new - tank stickers and all. It had 5,000 miles but looked like it had never been sat on - literally. It had a perf cond Yosh exhaust and had F2 wheels for modern tires but all original parts come with the sale to put back to 100% stock condition. They were wanting 6 grand, but when you can buy a nice 5th gen for 5 grand, it really got me wondering what this bike will get. What would you pay for this museum piece?

I bought a preety nice '83 (first year) for $1800.00. It had 21,000 miles. It was not museum quality, but very presentable. The problem with museum pieces is that you can't ride them without ruining the value. It would be fun to have if you don't plan to ride it too much.

Right now, you can get a clean '86 750 for much less than 6k. The prices for them are not quite that high just yet - even for the mileage you've stated.

I'd pay 5k for a bike like that... Riding a bike that's 20 years old and in that kind of shape... I'd baby it and only take it out on REALLY nice days.

If you could get it for 5 grand, I wonder what the F2 wheel conversion parts and the Yosh exhaust would be worth to 1st gen owners? I'm not seriously thinking of buying it - I don't need another bike - but it would be pretty cool owning a 1st gen in new cond - especially 20 years from now

I just wanted to follow this up and say that if the year is 1986, then the VF1000R in that kind of shape is the bike that might fetch that kind of money. It is definitely more sought after than the 750 and much harder to find in that kind of shape. There was an '86 VF1000R that had under 6K miles on it that was stock and in flawless condition that sold on eBay last year for just over $5K. I thought it might have gone higher.

over here in the UK. a bike like this would be making £900, up to £1300.
As for the milage,I would really want to see some history to back it up,cheque the vin.number then see if you could get any imformation from honda???like where was it first reg.?has been imported??
A 20 year old bike with 5k on the clock don't ring true to me.

If anything I'm suprised it has that many miles. Again, this bike looks like it's never been sat on. How many dollars is 1300 pounds?
