    Hi All,

I finally got all the parts, and the time, to install the R&G Slider kit on my bike. I cut up a used fairing set from Ebay and got everything installed, but have a few questions before I do the final button up.

1: The slider bar has about a 1/4" of play in it. Is this normal? I have not done the final tighening of the extensions, so a little bit of this slack will be taken up, but I highly doubt a full quarter inch will be taken in just on torquing the extensions in place.

2: When I removed the fairing, and pulled the stock coolant overflow tank off, there was no coolant in it. It seems to me that there should be coolant in this tank, at some level, at all times to prevent air being sucked into the circuit. What type of coolant should be used with these bikes?

3: Is there a good parts store equivalent to the honda factory plastic body clips? I broke a few getting the fairings off and need to replace them, but 3$ a shot from Bike Bandit is a bit steep.

    Thanks!

I have seen this kit referenced before, I think I will pick it up and give it a shot. Thanks!

Right, the bike was cold when I pulled the fairing off, and there was no fluid in the tank. I checked the manual, and it said levels should be checked at operating temperature. So I started it and let it warm up and fluid entered the tank.

No, those are not the clips, the clips I am referring to are push type, not screw type. Those might work as a replacement though.

As far as the slack in the slider bar, I removed it and placed the supplied washers inboard of the rod extensions, and that picked up the slack in the rod, I am not sure if this is correct per R&G, but I would rather the bar not be sliding around as I move on the bike.

Those plastic body clips I linked aren't really "screw" type. Just the center pin is a 1/4 turn to release just the pin, they main part of it is a push in. The center pin just makes it expand. These are the pins at the bottom of the fairings, and under the headlight center cowl.
