    Hi to all VFR lovers

I just bought a new VFR800 (2007) and I am so pleased with my choice.

I will shortly post some nice photo's of my bike.

I live in Pretoria South Africa and would like to know of other bikers in this area also with VFRs.

Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure you will love the bike. What color schemes were offered in your part of the world?

    Colours

    Honda offers the following colours:

    Candy Glory Red,
    Digital Silver Metalic and
    Pearl Cosmic Black

I bought the Candy Glory Red with 3000 kms on the clock but I am not happy as the bike has quit a lot of scratches on it's fairing. Honda agreed to excange the bike for a Pearl Cosmic Black one. Not my first choice but it is the only one available and I think I can live with it.

    Nice to here from you!

Congrats on your purchase and sorry to hear it had a lot of scratches. I guess the RWB model is a US only offering? The black should look pretty good though. I have seen the red one color but not the silver or the black. Welcome to the group. :thumb:

Thanks for your interrest Vinny, I am going to look at the black VFR tommorow and then will make up my mind to take it or to stay with the scratched red. I only paid R83,000 ($11,000) for the red and the black as it is new will put me back R93,000 ($13,000). The $ only estimates.

    Colourful Colors....

    Gerhard:

If you can't see the scratches when you ride, then maybe red is not soo bad?

oh, and what's a Colour?

Either way you'll have the same powerplant. You might ask to talk with the knucklehead that scratched the bike to hear the story about how it got there, then decide on what bike is best for your wallet long-term.

    Prosit,
    Paul

    Color or Colour?

    Hi Nozzle

Thanks for your comment, perhaps I am too concerned about scratches that may be fixed later if realy necessary.

The American and South African spelling sometimes differs, who knows why but some examples are:

Color in USA and Colour in SA
Defense in USA and Defence in SA
Center in USA and Centre in SA

There are more such words, I think we South Africans adopted the UK English because this was an English colony under the control of the Queen of the UK many moons ago.

The most important is that we spel Honda VFR the same!

    Hi Hannes

Dankie vir die ondersteuning, hopelik ontmoet ons nog eendag?
    Mooi bly en ry veilig!

To all the other VFR riders, that was just a few words in Afrikaans to a fellow VFR rider near my home town.

alle voorspoed met jou nuwe fiets u sal hou van dit!

Well now we find out if online translators work worth a darn, I hope you enjoy your new ride. Hopefully the above comment doesn't say something off-colour about your wife or something............

I say go for the Red, with my luck I'd drop the black one a week after I bought it and have even more scratches on that one.

    God loves Motorcyclists

    Hi OneSided

Nice to hear from you and yes the translation is perfect!

I have made up my mind and will stay with the red. It will always remind me of the blood of the Master through which we are set free. Always remember to stand on the Word of God (Jesus) and then you will find that luck plays no role in our lives but the will of God. The more knowledge we get from the Word the "luckier" we get.:amen:

Hope to here from you again

    Gerhard

I can do the English-American Translation, but the Afrikaner is tough... Just in case I'm ever in your backyard, how do I order two beers for us? :tea:

Hopefully there are not "Dust bin Lories" instead of trash trucks where you live ;-)

    Gerhard,

Very well said, those of us who know our Savior, Jesus Christ, truly are the "lucky" ones. I don't know what we'll get to ride in Heaven, but I know even a VFR will never compare to what God has planned for us.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him to glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen

    Ephesians 3:20, 21

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I KNOW we'll ride together someday!:rapture:

    Heaven

    Hi Kevin

Thank you for your encouragement as well, it is so wonderful to meet a fellow biker on the Internet that also loves Jesus. Yes you are right we will ride together even if it is in Heaven. Let me tel you that if I die before you do then when your time comes, look for me at the feet of Jesus and if you go before my race is run, then when I go I will also know where to look for you!

My prayer for you is that you should grow in the grace of our Father and that the Son will make Himself open to you through the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

I will shortly post some nice photo's.

Do you belong to any motorcycle club or chapter? I am a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) and it is wonderful to be able to use my bike to reach out to fellow riders in need of Christ.

No you got me there, I think we call it refuse removal but "Dust bin Lories" are probably for removing junk motorbikes like GSXR ..... and trash trucks are for the other trash like those BMWs which I cannot afford!:banplease: For the bears, yes a lot of those available in South Africa, but the Lord Jesus saved an old drunk like me and now I will only be able to by us some coffee, tee and lots of Coke, Yes?:yield:

Go well and talk to you soon again.

    Blue and White VFR

    Hi Nozzle

I just looked at your bike, a 2007 VFR with colours that looks amazing. I wonder why we don't get that in South Africa? They also call it an Interceptor which is very nice as it can most definitely intercepts! The specs are probably the same. Do you enjoy riding it in comparison to litre (1000 cc) bikes?

I am totally new to super bikes as I had a cruiser (Suzuki Marauder VZ1600) before.

Well anyway the VFR rides very nice and I do feel quit safe on it. What a kick when the V-Tech kicks in, then it pulls like mad! Playing with that makes it a bit heavy on petrol but a small price for fun.:flame:

I have not been on a modern 1K bike, but this is my first V -twin or 4. I test rode the FJR & the BMW GT & both felt much bigger in parking lot manuevers, had loads more power - but I wouldn't use any of it as I don't ride 2 up most of the time (Momma is risk averse). I am certainly able to give my opinion, but to get an informed opinion, you'll need to get someone else's input.
