Idle Adjustment Cable

On a 6th Gen, concerning the idle adjustment cable that is on the lower right side, in what direction to you turn the screw or knob to DECREASE the idle? Clockwise or Counterclockwise?

 

Counterclockwise to decrease idle.

I have the 02-09 Service Manual but the closest it gets to addressing the question is on page 3-17 where it shows the adjuster nut but does not indicate which direction increases or decreases idle. My idle is running around 1500 when warmed up and the adjuster will not turn any further counterclockwise. Either the cable is siezed or it is at it's limit and I must turn the idle down via other means. I removed the airbox and checked the wax unit. It moved freely and I lubricated the linkages anyway as a precaution but no changes. Any suggestions as to what to try next?

 

Check/tighten your manifold clamps (8). A leaking manifold boot will cause a higher idle when warm/hot.

 

I checked the service manual but could not find a diagram indicating the location of the manifold boots. I think that these are the rubber boots that connect the throttle bodies to the engine, is that correct?

My adjuster seems stuck. I blocked the pair valves and am idling around 1k. Seems fine and I have not stalled it yet. How easy to free up the adjustment? I tried turning the end of the adjuster with a screwdriver and wound up the cable a little but it doesn't want to break loose.
