Hm. I always found the VFR's horn to be plenty loud. I am planning on doing this very thing to my Hawk GT. Unlike the VFR, it only has a single-tone horn. So it's getting a pair of 10-amp horns, fed directly from the battery via a relay.

Unless I'm mistaken, any truely loud after-market horns are going to need more juice than is available for the stock horns. So you'll need a relay from the battery that uses the old horn's "on" signal to open the relay switch and feed the new, big horns directly from the battery.

Here's the company that I got my relay kit from. I haven't installed it yet, but it is very well made.

I was able to mount the Comact Stebel Nautilus on my 97 on the left hand side useing the bolt hole/ mount on the engine for the radator bracket. If you go to that area you will see it. My camera is on the fritz so I can't take any pics of it. Had to bend the oil retun line and pull the raditor hose to make enough room and make a flat bracket like the radiator bracket for the horn. I also used one of these insted of the relay sent to make it easier and done better if I would have did it.

Have it working with the stock horn and works great. Time will tell it it keeps working in the heat thats so close to it. Just edited a pic to give some details on what I did.
