I'm fairly new to this forum, 1st post so go easy on me. I was wiring some new LED's for my plate lights and touched wiring...shorted out the bike. Pretty sure I just need a fuse replacement, but which would be the most likely fuse to be blown? I've been taking my bike apart, checking fuses, but haven't found a blown one yet. My bike is completely dead at this point. Please point me in the right direction.

Checked the 30 amp next to battery...all good. Where is the main fuse box? I looked up some info online that directed me under the right fairing, next to the radiator. 2 large wiring harnesses, but no fuses? thoughts?

It's smart to disconnect the battery before doing any additional wiring.

Well now you have to start probing around with a test light to see where you have power, just the fact that everything is dead still point to the main fuse. For starters with the test light you need to see if you have power at both side of the main fuse, just because it looks ok doesn't mean it is

    Lights Out!

OK, I've got this down to lights only: headlights and tail lights. Brake lights work fine. Shorted lights out installing some license plate led lights, and I have to locate the fuse for the lighting system. Any help locating this?

ALWAYS disconnect the battery when working on anything electrical - nothing worse than figuring out electrical gremlins as a result of a short out, or worse yet, frying the computer.

Is the bike completely dead? or just the lights?

There are 2 main fuses under the seat - check both.

Main Fuse A (and spare) - Located on the starter magnetic switch under the seat (kind of a box thing next to the battery)
Main Fuse B is located under the seat in a holder next to the battery as well.
The other fuses are located in a fuse box (on a non-ABS model) under the right inner panel.

    Got it...got it...lets ride!

Double checked the 2 main fuses mentioned, both good. Located the main fuse box (note: this is a fairly small box tucked away in a location that is not highly visible). Once I had the box, it was just a matter of checking for the blown one.

Thanks to all for the help on this one. Like I said, i'm new to the forum, but have enjoyed the info, pictures and chat so far.

Problem solved? It sounds like it ... if so, AWESOME!

Glad it was only a blown fuse! :)
