Water Pump housing o-ring...Where do I get one?

So while going through the bike I noticed it was beginning to weep coolant on the base of the water pump, under the lower hose. Over time, this small leak has left some nasty, caked-on crud all over the water pump housing mating surface, more specifically under the hose.

I'd like to properly scrape off and clean the area by removing the water pump housing to better aid in cleaning from all angles.

While it's off, I would replace that o-ring under there. But the problem is: where the heck can I source this o-ring from? I don't see it listed in any fiche I've seen anywhere so far.

Maybe I could get one from ebay or some other place if I knew the correct diameter?

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

    Service Honda - Part #
    19226-ML7-000 - $2.95 - Cover - #9
    91302-MB0-013 - $1.73 - Main - #24

Or you could just wait around for the next 29 posts telling you how to make one out of toothpaste and dental floss, or, duct tape and lawn chair webbing, or, how to cut your own from some incompatible material from Napa Auto Parts that is $.05 cheaper

Maybe it's something in the water where he lives up north or in his glaucoma medication ? :peaceful:
It would taKe me 3 beers to start coming across like that.:drinker:

Seals and O-rings can almost always be matched and purchased at any industrial bearing supply shop unless you live in a small, miserable town in a red state down by the river.

94VFRVA hasn't convinced me that his problem is NOT a leaky (failed) waterpump, dripping from the small hole underneath that signifies trouble.

Thanks for the heads up on that small hole, squirrelman.

But after inspecting with a mirror all around the pump, I can confirm that hole is bone dry, save for a normal light film of built up dust/grime over time all around that general area.

Before I pulled off that lower hose, there was a few drops of coolant at the mating surface to the housing/cover. When I pulled the hose free, there was a heavy build-up of dried coolant all over the neck except for the bottom, where it was weeping through, and therefore still wet.

By the way, what is the purpose of that small hole, anyway?

    Thanks, NorcalBoy.

I was debating between finding the correct part for the job or pulling a MacGuyver and just jamming some bubble gum all around the part while hoping for the best.

I'm going to check out that link. I've always believed in using the right parts/tools for the job at hand - especially on a such a critical piece.

    Thanks again.

I'll bet sNorkleboy could inform you why weeping is sad and about that tell-tale hole. :homer:

We need to take into consideration that Norcalboy is on several fora and gets repairing Harleys and repairing Hondas confused.

Orings can be sourced in Europe through Parker-Hannifin.

In aviation we call the o-rings "packings" guess it justifies the hefty price, ie fifty pesos for a glorified o-ring.

The largest O ring in the world is in Texas. 40' in diameter.

I have nothing more to contribute, or.....just maybe....it's nothing less. Kudo's to all the folks that insist upon causing themselves nothing but self inflicted wounds.....like responding to Badbilly. Peace and incessant hacking.

That is the how you determine if the waterpump seal is bad.....it's a tattletale, or sanity check. Best of luck to ya.

I know that vid. "The Attack of the 100 Foot Lesbians who use 40' Orings."

I sure hope the Texas DMV gives a lot of advance info on lane splitting for cagers, otherwise they will be doing it too.

That Oring is on the 40' door on Chamber A, at the Space Environment Simulation Chamber at JSC Houston.

I do. In some circles it's as good a trivia question as the names of Mickey Mouse's nephews.

Not wanting to send you packing without some modicum of other useful knowledge, those self inflicted wounds can be stitched up with dental floss in a pinch.

Here in Australia, every time I have to go into a Honda shop for parts, I have to pull my pants down and bend over on the counter.
Even then, just did the same "O" ring on mine and it was only $8. (the bending over was just a precaution)

As far as all you blokes that have answered, for goodness sake, he is asking a reasonable question, no need for smart arse remarks.
But if I ever end up over your way, we need to get together for a beer or ten.
