I am planning to add Oxford heated grips to my bike, and plan also to add a cigar power outlet for gps, etc. Does anyone know if adding these items will cause problems with the electrical/charging system? Advice appreciated.

I just picked up a set of Oxford heated grips too. I already have a USB outlet.

The draw on these items is relatively low, you should be good. Just make sure you've got a newer stator / RR. You also may want to get rid of the connectors on the harness for the stator / RR as it adds resistance and is a weak point in the system.

I haven't delved into the electrics before. For stator/RR, do you mean to remove plug type connectors and connect wires directly (with tape or twist-on connector)?

    Don't use a twist connector.

Either solder, or a good crimp-on connector and water proof it.

I have Oxford grips and they draw less than 5 amps. I have a relay installed that feeds power to a 6 circuit fuse block that is powered on ignition. The fuse block powers the heated grips, lead for my heated gear, volt meter, 12 volt cigarette adapter plug and the LED indicator for the cooling fan. No problems to date.

How much power are you drawing all geared up with the grips and your heated clothing? (what heated clothing bits are you wearing?)

I guess I should have said the Oxford's can draw no more than 5 as that is what they are fused for. I think the max draw on them is 3amp. I have not checked the draw with all of it on. I only use a heated vest now for heated gear.
