Mine is coming with the lumino photochromatic pinlock shield, and includes the pinlock lens insert.

Well, there was no damage other than a scuffed grip and damaged mirror ... if that's still considered a drop, then chalk me up for 1. :stung:

Yes it does. You join at least three others. maybe more. Bike falls over and hits ground a drop. So Sad too bad.

Reading trough a lot of these reminded me of a near drop this past June. I had stopped at the Melita Manitoba Border crossing from USA into Canada. A brand spanking new building, new digs and new employee parking lot. Well, I was in no particular hurry and there was no one behind me so I chatted it up with the Border Guard there for a few minutes. Had to move on because my bladder was telling me it was time do something.

Parked my heavily loaded bike next to this big new shiny Ford PU there and went inside. Took my time and came out to find my bike leaning at an extreme angle, and about to fall against this brand new truck. The side stand had sunk about 2 inches deep into the new asphalt which was laid far to thin. I grabbed the bike. it was slowly moving and I had to stop the fall with all my might. I could not lift it out of the hole the side-stand dug into the pavement. Now what the hell do I do.

Fortunately, the guy I was chatting it up with, was taking his turn at doing a walk about of the station and came over to help me get this bike totally upright and on its center stand so I could ride it away. It wasn't a drop, but was definitely one in the making. It was his brand new truck I almost fell against too.

My buddy, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, says apologies are a sign of weakness! I bet if he rode a bike, he would never let it hit the ground.

Alright, now that I'm up to 2, I belong on the list. 1st was bringing her off the center stand while standing on the kickstand side, like a knucklehead.

For drop #2, I was taking my dog outside when he saw a cat or other critter, and took off after it. He proceeded to hook my bags with his leash, pulling my Viffer over, dropping my handlebar squarely into the gas tank of my wife's Vulcan, and planting her footpeg into the seam between my front and side fairings. Grand total of $1,500 damage in an 1/8th of a second.

It's been over a month since this thread was visible. Now that "riding season" is starting for many of you (I'm in SoCal) I thought I'd bump it and cordially invite new -and old- members to enlighten us with their drop stories.

I guess it's time for me to join this club. Forgot to take the front disc lock off this past Saturday, so I put it in gear, pulled the throttle and I may as well have ridden right into a concrete wall. Bike lurched, I lost balance, and she went over. This was in a parking lot...I didn't even want to look up to see if anyone witnessed it. I just picked her up (she's a heavy bastard!), took the lock off, and got outta there.

Just minor scratches to the left fairing and mirror. The clutch lever also bent. Thankfully I had already ordered adjustable ones that arrived later the same day. The only thing I really hurt was my pride.

    Everyone drops eventually. Everyone.

Added to the list scorpuco. Just a note. Yes, they are heavy bikes. There are a couple vids on youtube showing an easy way for even small people to pick up these bikes. You should check it out. One vid shows a fairly small woman picking it up with apparent ease. Also check out a thread stated by Derstuka : What does your username mean? or something like that

I have not dropped my bike at all this year because I am much stronger, I go to health club at least four days a week and I am a beast now. I can push my vfr like its a little R6 Yamaha now. But if I add those hard bags on ,it maybe a different story-them heavy.

disc lock fix: to prevent the ENTIRE wheel from making a revolution (and therefore giving you many feet to get up to speed before you drop it), put your disc lock on the brake disc, but put it BEHIND the front forks, as close as you can to the back of the forks. This way, the wheel can only rotate .00324 inches before the wheel stops, and not a full revolution. In fact, if you put it on the centerstand when you park it, often by rolling it forward off the stand the wheel will stop, reminding you that it's on there.

Can't reply with quote for some reason, but this is with reference to riding off with a lock/chain still on.

Did the same thing with my GS500 a while back (JUST managed to keep it upright though). I had a cable lock on it, so the bike managed to go forward a bit before the wheel locked up. The funny thing is the utter bewilderment you get when the front wheel washes out!
