Can this get me in trouble? A ticket for example because of the dark headlight? I think it looks great !

 

If you are talking about those shades over your headlights, here in BC, short answer is Yes.

First off, your headlights must reveal an object at 30 meters travelling up to 50 kmh and 60 meters going faster than 50 kmh. Your tint would probably not permit that. Regardless of that, here your headlights cannot be shielded, covered or obscured...
Motor Vehicle Act Regulations of BC Division 4 sec. 04(1)(2)(c) for anyone who wants the specific authority.

I do know that this type of law legislation be very different from on jurisdiction to another. You should be able to easily look this up on line. Most jurisdictions have their vehicle laws on line.

 

Sames goes for here in Manitoba.

Anything that limits the amount of light (plastic cover, tint, etc.) given off by either the front or rear lights can result in a ticket.

 

Unless you never ride at night, why would you want to lessen your ability to see after dark?

I've seen a lot of pick-ups with darkened headlight covers here in Missouri. Makes no sense to me.

 

Why would you want to limit the ability of others seeing YOU?? Sure it may look good on the bike but it's already hard enough for people in cars to see us, why make it harder?

 

I suppose the biggest trouble you can get into is when some blondie with a cell phone pasted to her ear, will not see you because of the diminished lights, and turn her car right into you while traveling along the interstate at 70MPH. You loose. But you will look cool in the beginning. Not so much in the end.

 

That is quite possibly the stupidest motorcycle mod I've ever seen. Harley doods are even shaking their heads.

 

Any lighting on any vehicle that is tinted should be punishable by roadside beating. The spill Eric took at R3 last year was primarily caused by the numb nut in his 1993 Toyota Corolla having tinted lenses on the car , making it very difficult to see that he had his turn signal on. Roadside beating I say.

 

Even though we can hear the harleydoods shaking their heads over most things.. The question would be how much do one of these farkles reduce the illumination. The comparison is quantifiable with a light meter. Or do they block light completely? That would be dumb..

For protection of those pricy headlamps and nacelles, See Ventura for their Lexan shields. Same one on the mach 1 91 for aboot 10 years. Replaced the Velcro a couple of times at the whopping cost of aboot 2 pesos.

 

Looks good. I hope they are the kind you can be remove for night use. If not then it is stooooped to have them. You'll have diminished view at night let alone being seen less during the day. Not a good combo.

 

Found some similar shields on Ebay from UK for other bikes too. They are not opaque..

Opaque may look cool but being seen and up and walking around is mucho cooler. I know of no recently made street bikes that don't have full time lights.. Could be an exception or two on some limited production scooters..(??)

 

Looks cool, but after reading all the threads on LED & projector lights, why would do an anti-performance mod like that??, keep the photo for your scrap book, and keep out of trouble.

 

I never ride my VFR at night. I have a small 600 RR for that.

I don't think a mangled vfr1200 can be removed from the passenger side of a SUV that fast though.

The solution to this would be a combination crash helmet and headlight cover.

I'm glad you're here, I wanted to get your aesthetic opinion on a mod I was working on. I want the front wheel to have a real clean look so I was gonna remove the rotors and calipers. Thoughts?
