I've heard that Canada is real expensive for bike insurance. Doesn't seem fair.

Are we talking full coverage or liability only? As a broker, unless you are comparing in kind policies, there are way too many variables to only compare dollar amounts. Coverage, age, location, driving record, years experience, other policies with the same company, etc.

It's public insurance .... we're bent over and rammed hard here in Manitoba too.

I'm paying about $1,500 for the season, and the payments are made only during the 6-month riding season. Right now, I'm riding "for free".

SMI used to have policies for motorcycles, but it's not available in Manitoba anymore (only for cars). I would check to see what your basic coverage is in Saskabush and see if SMI has motorcycle policies still for SK.

That blows, dude. Just not going to drive them enough to warrant it?

My VFR is going to be my daily commuter once the over night lows are 0*C or above.

If you do sell your VFR (90?) let me know before you do. I might be interested ...

I just did a comparison, it's cheaper to insure my 2002 VFR800 than it is to insure a 1990 VFR750 .... even with a higher declared value???

I feel for you I register my VFR for 45 days riding per year $70 and fully comp insure it for $140 and that includes salvage rights. Couple of years ago I had an accident on my CB750 and broke the ignition cover, they wrote it off, paid me out, I bought it back for $150, fitted a new ignition cover, and they re insured it for the same value they just paid me out on, no problems at all, can't get any better than that. The reason they wrote it off was because they couldn't tell if any dirt had got into the motor through the hole in the ignition cover

Can you get both public and private in Saskabush? We can here. I have my basic liability with ICBC and fire theft and collision through Beacon International which saves me a couple hundred a year. My private is also declared value. I have mine valued at $6K so if I loose it, that's what I get minus the delectable (1K) That also covers $2K for gear. A bit over insured but rather that than under.

Yah, we have that here in Manitoba ... we use MPIC for our cars with basic. Then get SMI (Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance) for comprehensive.

SMI used to offer comprehensive for motorcycle as well, but discontinued it in Manitoba a few years back.

SMI (Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance) isn't available? Did they do away with motorcycle comprehensive all together?

Got photos of that VFR? I might be interested or have someone that might be.
