I guess the joke's on me. I thought there'd be lots of wisecracks.

No fighter pilots in the bunch?

Along the same lines as Skully, but it's an add on instead of integrated. A lot cheaper too. I'm concerned about the display being added to the inside of my helmet, in case of a crash. Other than that, it's a great idea.

Very simplistic, last year I contributed to truly first HUD on kick starter called Nuviz: www.ridenuviz.com. Much more versatile.

BTW: Skully not a true HUD, LCD display only

Fusar is a totally different concept, NOT a HUD (Heads Up Display) like the military uses, which is what the Nuviz uses.

Has anyone actually seen or tried any of these optical farkles and more importantly, can I really watch my Oprah re-runs on one? The scary part is that with just a few more technological advances, Oprah could be watching me.

There's enough juice through the headphone jack in most radar detectors to drive an LED. A resistor or two might be needed. The headphone/ speaker feature is crap anyway.

A suction cup holds it all together and mounts on the inside of the wind screen. Built mine aboot 15 years ago with aboot a fiver in parts from Radio Shack.. For a really bright display, the LED array from one of these dollar flashlight from WalMart will work. My detector sits on my tank bag using a chunk of marine grade Velcro.

Works great. I got lit five times by the local gendarmes and the smokies exiting Seattle on I-90. That would be heading East. Heading west the rig would at some point need waterproofing.
