    Hi folks,

I’ve been having this weird problem where my battery will get low and die after a few hours of riding (I have a voltage meter on top of the fuse box). The problem started out of the blue, I don’t think I’ve changed anything on the bike prior to this problem.
The first thing I did was replace all these parts with brand new ones:
    Ricks R/R
    Shorai Lithium Battery
    vfrness wiring harness
    stator

While riding, the battery voltage will fluctuate between 13.5 - 12.5 ; after a few hours it fluctuates between 11.5 and 12.5 ; at this point I usually stop the bike, after which it will barely start or not start at all.

    Some voltage readings:
    Unplugged stator, output at 3000rpm : 22VAC
    Unplugged stator, output at 1000rpm : 8VAC
    Plugged stator into R/R, output at 3000 : 7-9VAC
Plugged stator into R/R, output at 1000: 6-8VAC
Stator resistance: 0.3 ohms between all three wires
Unplugged stator, tested to ground: 0 ohms

I idled the bike for an hour with the high-beams on: 12.5V
    Parasitic draw is only 19mA

Not sure if this video will help, the voltage meter on top of the fuse box is connected to the battery, the voltage meter is connected to the stator/RR connectors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bTwkYmj8mk

Thanks so much for the help, I’m running out of ideas!

idling a bike for more than about ten minutes is a bad idea. You need to pull the red plug off the top of the starter relay and check wires for melting or burning.

Zero ohms from a yellow stator wire to ground means stator is destroyed.:confusion: Sure you don't mean zero connection to ground (infinite ohms) ?>?

Your voltage mean nothing unless your probe were on the correct connector or battery post.
Properly do "The Drill" , get the correct numbers from the right spot and get back.

(Since you have a Shorai, charge it up good, before the testing.)

btw at idle, its not uncommon for the charge system to be in a state of discharge, so the battery is the only thing keeping the bike running.

    btw2, dont do that.

    Thanks for the feedback.

When I installed the vfrness, it replaced the starter relay connector, although I didn't see any obvious damage to the original.

Yes, by zero Ohms, I meant no connection to ground (infinite), good catch.

I check out the Drill, make sure I didn't miss anything...
