And this thread paints a picture of how the breakup went with Jay's last girlfriend. :)

It's not a DCT but you are right it is a pretty great deal. I am tempted to buy it myself but i would have to sleep outside in the shop with it.

I think the VFR1200 is a great bike trying to stand out in a market full of great bike choices. I think lack of stock bags hurt it. especially if it replaces the ST1300 as Honda's sport touring offering. Personally I love the DCT but I don't think any manufacture knows how to market the technology. Yes, it's an automatic for the newbie but it is also a great, self shifting transmission for the sport rider and not a slush box. Motorcycle riders are a conservative lot and are very resistant to change (Harley made the hand shift an option for 10 years.) The VFR1200's most direct competition is the FJR1300. The FJR has a better stock seat, comes with bags, has a little bigger engine and, to most, it's better looking.

Hey, there's NO WAY that I'm going to wrap my bike in a blanket, throw it in the back of my truck, drive out into the country in the middle of the night, dig a big hole, and bury it. There's NO WAY that's going to happen.:laugh::laugh::triumphant::congratulatory:

I could say a lot of things about the styling of the Z1000...but cookie cutter isn't one of the descriptions I would use.

I'm sure my VFR will do fine. I'm going to talk to my dealer about doing the ECU update to get the flat spots out of first and second. That should really boost the performance. Any other recommended MINOR mods?
I thought I had heard something about changing the rear shock to an Ohlins? What's the benefit? Is the stock suspension too stiff? I'd heard rumblings about shock failure? The preload adjuster seizes? Huh? What's the answer?

I'd like to take a RR out on at least half of the twisty roads of my 22 mile commute, the other 11 freeway miles I might prefer the VFR. After 100K miles I feel the weight of even the 800.

Slab ride is referring to a 2 1/2 hour freeway ride at 70+ that I have to do frequently. The VFR is way more composed and offers more wind protection than the lightweight, bouncy RR, at least the '03 model I had. I'm sure I'd like the 1200 for that trip, or on any other multi-day tour.

    Do a google image search, click on the one you like and click the 'view image' box. That brings the image up on its own page, then copy the URL and paste into your reply then put {IMG}URL-for-the-photo-I-like-in-here{/IMG} at the ends, but use [ ] instead of { }

I really like the Ninja 1000 and am considering buying one. It's hard to find a bad review about them besides from riders who want a true sport bike. They should be riding the ZX-10 anyways, the current Ninja is considered a sport tourer. I haven't ridden one yet but I have sat on them and they feel really good to me. I really like the riding position.

I dig the looks also, the exhaust is funny but when you realize it's a homage to the exhaust style from the Mach 3 it's ok.

It is actually very comfortable. I like it much better than R6.
Maybe because I'm a short bastard only 5'10".

The ONLY complaint I found about a Ninja 1000 is Engine vibrations through the seat when you are on the freeway, and wobbly pegs when you are going over 70 mph. Not having a gear indicator is really not a complaint. I was actually looking at the same bike but I'm trying to sell my VFR 1200 first.

I'm interested in the new Suzuki GSX-S 1000F. Actually it's sibling too the GSX-S 1000. Both liter bikes ad along the lines of the Ninja or even what the 8th Gen VFR should have been. Why didn't Honda put the 1200 in the new VFR? That would have been fun!

Engine vibrations through the seat is a major problem for me, and I'm pretty sure, just about everyone who is on a longer trip. Does it just happen at a certain rpm? Can you avoid that speed/rpm? Is it tire choice?

Talk about an oddity - I just Googled some images of the Ninja 1000 - can anyone actually SAY that this thing looks better than the VFR? I have a hard time actually looking at it! Besides being straight from Tron, I'm pretty sure it's made in Thailand. Can anyone confirm this?
(and yes, I have seen it in person)

    GSX-1000F? I don't see it on Suzuki's website.

I just saw it on their international site, but I didn't see any accessories listed. Are bags available? I'm sure it's a re-badged Ninja 1000S!

Your dealer can't do anything with your ECU. Send it to Guhl Motors, he's the only one that knows how to flash it.

I wanted to sell my VFR1200F as I own a VFR800 too and the 800 is far more fun to ride then the 1200, trust me, the 1200 should never have been produced in this poor state.
However, that was pre-flash, now Don Guhl has worked his magic on the ECU this bike is the best bike I ever owned.

Trust me (and others), Don is the way to go to turn this bike from poor to excellent.

Where is Don Guhl? I'm in Canada.
Are you sure? I read a post saying that Honda had sent a revised ECU mapping to the Canadian dealers, and that a handheld unit can be sent to the dealers to update the mapping.
