WWhen making photographs of bikes (and cars, for that matter) on C/L, the following should be kept in mind:

    1. Keep the bike out of the sun! Shadows (darker is better) or variegated shade will obscure the outlines and details for prying eyes on Craigslist. Photograph it in the garage or the side of house to avoid excessive illumination. If no cover is available, shoot directly into the sun.
    2. Use 'clever' angles to prevent viewers from seeing what the bike actually looks like. You know more about how to compose shots than those boring magazine photographers, right?
    3. It is never worth your time or effort to move the bike into a larger, lighter area to photograph it. (What do these so-called buyers expect anyway?)
    4. If your digital camera's resolution is too high, use a 180 x 240 pixel phone camera.
    5. Don't make pictures too large; they might disclose details you could otherwise hide in a smaller image.
    6. Rotate the camera so the bike is 90 degrees from horizontal in the ad.
    7. Take close-ups of foot peg brackets, partial fenders, tank filler caps, etc. to increase your bike's perceived value.
    8. Never show a straight-on side view.

Then all you have to do is lie a lot in the ad, pepper it with misspelled words, and you're done!

You forgot to mention the garage shot with junk all over/around it to obscure as much as possible, especially with the pile of parts next to it.

When it comes time to sell, I'll just included a pic of my bike on the 2015 VFRworld calendar. That should do it.

Make sure when taking those shots with garage junk, tools and parts to include at least two rattlecans from Walmart.

A good supply of your favorite oil in the background shows prospective buyers how well you maintained your ride.

Wee put her Spyder on for a while. Got asked for trades, (jet ski, different motorcycle) payments, so she changed it to say no trades, then it was reported to be against the terms of service and got removed.

    Really? Craigslist blows.

Seriously? On Craig's List you cannot say you don't take trades? That is way out there. I wonder if CL is communist based. I suppose next thing they will be trying to say we have to pay using Master Card rather than Visa.

Not a problem. There are dudes up the wazoo who will take the codes from either card. Most are selling Harleys, autographed pix of JC and Nuke Romney Chia Pets.

Your chance of making a sale to TOE CUTTER would be greatly increased if your Craigslist picture has beer and stripper poles in the background.

The same applies to Randy just replace the beer with single malt scotch.

Looks like people are the same the world over. My favourite is when someone says " bike not running, but it is easy to fix" normally followed up with "I'm a bike mechanic, so I know what I am talking about"

I always felt ads with no picture were the best. Can"t see anything to feel uneasy about.

What really erks me is I right know have a few ads on there and every f*ckn day I get the scammers with the same script sayin they'll give me an extra $50, and they will send a driver to pick said item with a money order or cashiers check. What people dont understand is sure the check will go through and be cashed THEN the bank will find out it's fraudulent , and guess who's holding the can of worms....you have to pay.
But thats okay, and to take no trade out isn't?
    WTF

Local scammers? Put up some of the stuff you are getting scammed on and add some bodybags.. ;)

Try this.. Go to your local Post Office and buy a Postal Money Order for say five bucks. Tell the scammers you will accept no checks but will accept a Postal Money order. Your five dollar money order is a template to see if their money order is fraudulent. Or just shoot em..

Also. To take trades is just an opportunity for fuggen thieves to launder their parts. Sorry. If I sell anything on Craig's List, it will be cash only. Or I don't deal with them.
