    Hey VFR Fans (Fanatics)...

I put it in search, but came up with mush.

Which one is more comfortable to ride long distance??

    Gen 5/2000 or Gen 6/2007.

I'm NOT talking about the seat comfort (not everbody's @$$ is the same), more the tuck of the leg to the pegs.

If they are the same...that's cool...looking at pics, it's hard to tell.

    Cheers,

    Bill

I found them to be almost identical. Here is a great page to compare almost any bike ergos:
    http://cycle-ergo.com/

You can add both bikes to it and then superimpose them on top of each other. Just add your height and inseam and it does the rest for you.

I should add that I have never been able to share a comparison, otherwise I would have done so for this post. You'll see what I mean.

    So many variables!

We all have different arm, leg & torso lengths. I personally find the stock foot pegs & handlebars very comfortable. I've done more than a few 300-400 mile days & get off the bike feeling pretty darned good.

The BIGGEST thing I did to make the ride position better was to scoot forward & hug the tank with my knees & put the balls of my feet on the foot pegs. Beyond that, STRENGTHEN YOUR CORE with stomach & back exercises.

Similar to what TNRabbit said, depending how the bike is setup can make a difference. My 5 Gen has stock ergos and seat and for sport riding it is spot on for me. On my 6 Gen I have Heli-bars and a Sargent seat and it is great for long hauls and commuting. For reference I'm 5'8" and weigh ~155lbs

Wow... I crap bigger than you!

No offense meant, the greatest riders in the world are small of stature, I just picture us guys on VFR's as bigger.

It's kind of funny, perception is everything, when I see someone that's my size (OOTV and I are close in stature) on a VFR I think that the bike's were made for us, as compared too you larger gents. By the way, if Daryl is a little shit, I'm a mini! 145 lbs. and also 5'8". That's how you take the weight out of a VFR, ha ha:eagerness:

No offense taken, nothing I can do about genetics but there are many more VFR riders shorter than me here. It's funny, in my immediate family I'm the giant! Both parents are around the 5' mark as well as my sisters being just slightly taller than them! I'm sure at one time 5'8" would have been considered "short" but from what I'm finding it seems to be about average now and just the right height for getting both feet on the ground when on the VFR. An inch or two shorter then it's either tippy toe or one foot at a time, unless you lower the bike. I'm also finding most gear and clothing in my size seem to be the first to be out of stock. As far as my weight, I'm near the upper limit in the "healthy" category on the BMI scale. So crap away, I'm sure we can find a suit to dress up one of your turds.

They are the same. I can't say with 100% certainty that the rearset position is identical on both but everything seat and bars related is.

I have ridden both, one right after the other then back again on the same ride. Reg and I switched bikes for several miles several years back. His is Gen 5 and mine is Gen 6. I did not notice any difference. Both bikes were stock as far as height and bars are concerned at the time I think.

How does the Gen 5.5 feel in this regard?
