Could be that there was a bad run of magnets. A shitload of soft luggage is assembled in places where production overshadows quality control. Could be too that Coke is antimagnetic..

Looking at the OXFORD line as well I really like the X30's versatility and I have talked to Oxford USA at length about the products. Very intrigued but waiting until there 2014 line gets completely on this side of the pond.

Hopefully since I do like Cortech products generally and I did like the bag except that it would have flown of. Maybe Coke IS antimagnetic....must experiment.......

I have the same Cortech 18l magnetic bag and I love the shit out of it. No issues at all with magnets on mine, and I swap it among 4 bikes, and use it every day. I've had it packed to the gills with heavy shite too, flog the bikes whenever possible, and never had it budge. I had it so full on the April group ride up the coast with some other VFR guys that it was rounded on the top, a bottle of wine in it among other stuff, and I could not get another thing in it. It never moved.

Maybe contact them and send it back for a swap?

BTW, I've only used magnetic tankbags (this one and others I have) for 30+ years on all kind of bikes, and never had a single scratch on any of them (and I still have all the bikes, so I'd know.) As long as you use common sense (keep the tank clean, keep the underside of the bag clean, don't set it down on the bottom on anything, and wipe it off if you do) the whole scratch thing is a non-issue for me. My latest VFR even came with one of those tank lock ring things/bag, and I sold it right away. I prefer a bag I can swap among all the bikes, and even loan to a friend on a group ride if need be.

I love the magnetics all I have ever used since 1984. I have had other Cortech products that I liked a lot hence the reason I chose it in the first place. I sent it back to Revzilla and let them know that it had issues, they gave a full refund! I am researching bags now, not really pressing since I have the trunk but the Oxford line is at the top of the list simply for the versatility and the lifetime warranty. First bag I have seen (not that there are not others...) that I can simply purchase a tailbag base and it will work either way.
