Hi, what would be the acceptable milleage after an oil change before storing the bike for the winter? I'll be using Motul v300 full synthetic. Thank you for your input.

Best to store the bike with fresh oil. Acids built up in oil from the combustion process & can harm bearings, journals & other surfaces. If your due for an oil change and you think your only going to put on limited miles from now till winter. I'd finish the season then store it with fresh oil.

I guess it depends on how long you're going to store it. I live in Missouri, and the last decade or so I don't seem to ride much between November and April, so the battery comes out and on the charger. The bike is in my heated garage, and it sits with whatever was in it when it came in the garage last. If it was right after an oil change, that's great, if not well, that's great too. Maybe the gas tank will be full and maybe not.

That's the way it's been the last 10 years or so with no ill effects. Of course if it's going to sit for a year or two that is a different kettle of fish, but just a few months, no big deal.

After its 1st season, changed the oil, rode about 80-100km before storing & added fuel stabilizer & put the battery on a tender. Stored the VFR from around mid November to April. I didn't do much riding this season...About 2500km...
With my VF500, as much as I remembered, changed oil & added fuel stabilizer on the day of storage, or rode from the dealer to my friend's garage for storage right after the oil change.
