Hard luggage?

The givi top rack with monolock top plate and side racks are on order. Any suggestions in what combo of cases fit the bike best? I was reading there's adapters available to mount other brand side cases to the givi monokey side racks.

 

I think only Givi avaialble for 5th gen.
So not much choice unless you can find the Corbin Beedle :wink:

 

Yeah, I know givi makes the racks and I have those on order.

But there's also adapter plates like this:

Which should allow the TraX alu-boxes as an option.

 

Kappa makes luggage for the gen 5. I've got their too case and like it just fine. Saved big over givi.

 

If you haven't gotten cases yet, I would look in to Caribou Cases (http://cariboucases.com/Side-Luggage-for-Givi-Racks/). Yes, they are square cases that some say ruin the sex appeal look of the VFR, but they are thinner by a couple inches than other cases out there. I put the 35L cases on mine and love em.

 

How are those in cross winds?

 

They do look easier to carry. That is my one dislike of the Givi, the handles.

 

Thanks for the suggestion, but already went with the givi E41 sides. They barely cleared my high mount exhaust but did as they curve away from the mounting points, I doubt the rectangular caribou ones would. I also like the built in lense to accomodate brake and turn signals.

 

I like the look of those cases. I have the givi 21 litre side cases now. I was planning on adding E360 side cases. Have you had a pillion on the back with those cases? Does that even work?

 

They are super easy to carry; You can kind of see them in the picture, but they have fold down handles (quite comfortable) that make them like a briefcase. They also carry a full warranty and if you are ever able to break open a case in a wreck, they will replace it for just the cost of S&H.

 

I have ridden two up with these cases, and there is room for a second on back. It is not the most space in the world, but I have not had any complains about it. I have not had the cover over the pillion though.

 

They are not too bad. I had them out in 25-35mph winds this afternoon and they are noticeably there, but they do not act like a sail and carry you across the lane.

 

They do indeed not clear a high mount exhaust. I have a Two Bros on mine and have to get 1 1/2" spacers which allows the mount clear the exhaust by about a 1/4" and allows the case to be about an inch away from the exhaust.
