Stewart - Yes, it is an '87. Its usually easier to just say its a Grand National. Most people have an idea on what those are. But technically, its a Buick Regal Turbo T-Type. Same engine, trans and rear as the GNs, but a T Type could be ordered with different stuff. All GN's were black with a black and grey interior. A T Type could be ordered in various colors and interiors.

Back in '87, the GN was touted as the fastest production car in America. Information varies, but published 0-60 times seem to range anywhere from 4.7 to 5.3 seconds. Pretty quick for a 6 cylinder, rear wheel drive car. Even by today's standards with all the traction control and stuff. QM times were somewhere in the mid-high13's.

I'm the 2nd owner. Purchased it from a guy in FL. Interestingly, he bought it new from a dealer about 3 miles from where I live, and they're still in business. He sent me all the paperwork. Titled to him in '87 with 13 miles on it. He moved to FL in 2006, and titled it down there with about 49,800 miles. When I bought it in February and had it shipped up, it had 50,100 miles. So he put a whopping 400 miles on it in 8 years. There's been plenty of things that I've had to fix - it leaked oil from damn near everywhere, radiator blew the day I got it (it was 20* when it was delivered), replaced every brake line with SS lines, all new fuel lines, the list goes on and on. But I got it for a song - I could double, possibly triple my money on it.

My tuner ( the guy that really makes it go fast) has been working on these cars for about 20 years, and has bought and sold over 150 of the turbo Buicks. He said this is only the 4th burgundy (or maroon) that he's ever worked on.

Reek - Thanks! If I had a dollar for every time someone said "I would have killed for one of those in high school"... lol! The T-Top versions are definitely cool, but notoriously leak. And leak. And leak. I actually have a sunroof that was installed at the factory in Pontiac, Michigan. Its one of about 1100 cars that came with a "true" factory sunroof. Others were ordered/made with the sunroof, the the plant would ship them out, have it installed, and then have the car brought back to Pontiac. There were subtle differences between the Pontiac and outsourced cars, and I'm 100% certain mine is from Pontiac. No big deal, but a neat little tid-bit that adds to its rarity. Oh, and it leaks too! (I'll get around to replacing the seals, but not like I drive this in the rain. Its only when I wash it.)

I like the 442 as well. The Regal, Cutlass and Monte Carlo SS were all referred to as the G Body style. I dig all of them, but the Monte Carlo was a bit of a dog compared to the Turbo and 442.

Very quick for a 6 cylinder. The SS is rated 4.7 for 0-60.

I owe you a dollar because I was going to say the same thing. In high school, my buddy's dad had one and we got to go out in it a couple of times. Not only did it move, but the looks were and still are fantastic.
