...that on my first ride ever with another member of VFRW, I'm not on my VFR!

I'm currently in my office, working on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon when I should still be out on the road riding. This morning, I met up with Derstuka and we took a short ride along the coast. We stopped in La Jolla and chatted a bit about our bikes and mostly about our past, what did someone on here call them?, "performance awards," I think. He's definitely been recognized for his talents much more than I have. I feel overlooked and underappreciated by the men and women of our local law enforcement.

Derstuka was on his red 5th Gen and I was on my new, 2014 CB1100. Derstuka was in front and I must say, I really dig the sound of those 2 Bros pipes on the VFR. Not only was this my first time riding with a VFRW member, it was my first time riding with someone else on a VFR period. The exhaust note/engine sound is great when you're right behind it. I'm sure it's nice when you're on top too. Going to have to add a new exhuaust system to my wish list.

The CB, which just broke 100 miles today on the ride into work, feels great. The wind blast on the freeway is going to take some getting used to. I'll probably add a small bikini fairing to the front to alleviate a touch of the wind but otherwise, I kind of like it. I'm sure a few hundred miles of it would get exhausting, but on shorter trips, you definitely feel like you're "on a motorcycle." The CB came with a Yoshimura slip-on already installed. I love the sound of it. Having never heard the stock exhaust, I can't compare them but the Yoshi has a nice, not too loud, throaty kind of rumble to it. Maybe "rumble" is too strong of a word. I'd ask Derstuka what it sounds like but he was too fast and too far in front to have probably heard anything. I REALLY like it. The CB is an inline 4 which clearly doesn't have the same tone as the lovely V4, but what does?

Derstuka, it was great meeting you. I hope we can ride together again soon. Maybe get OOTV and Scubalong to join us and any other SoCal members who want to join us. Can't say which bike I'll be riding!

Now, I really need to get some more work done!

Watch Stuke. He has an agenda! I rode across the boarder from Mexico to USA a couple years back with him. Low and behold, he went through first and I got pulled in and anally probed.

Are we to gather from the above that this anal probing thing is enjoyable? My apologies if I have mistaken commentary aboot an uncomfortable seat rather than the act.

I encourage all of you (with the exception of Randy, for aforementioned reasons), to go for a stroll with this dude, as he is a great guy.

Good to know fellow members get together and ride. Try to avoid the anal probes if you can -unless of course, you like them-

I know I've tried to corral a few rides together but always seem to not get many takers...not sure if it's timing, the ride routes or the company?! :twitch: So far I have met quite a few VFRW members, you included Mofo and so far most have been great people, there might be an exception or two, but the one's I ride with frequently and have ridden with more than once are a quality bunch! And yes, Stuka, MetallyGuitarded is good peeps!

All that being said, I know this weekend would be a great time to gather and ride, with Marrib coming to town but I may not be available...husband obligations. I owe the wife a weekend of non motorcycling activities (her words). I think she's starting to get a little jealous of all my mistress' :suspicious:

Almost forgot...Congratulations MG on your new ride, so you did pull the trigger after all. Glad you get to keep both rides. Now you need to take the wife out on your new mistress so they can get to know one another and so she knows what your new mistress can and cannot do for you...

You dudes will get what you deserve (anal probing not included). Why you ask? Pissing of wives and SO's who are doing the ironing while you are oot playing with motorcycles.

I've met only three fellow members from this forum, and each one would be welcomed to my place. I know everyone on this forum is good peeps.
I don't have any issues with the company, route or length of rides, but timing is a real enemy and prevents me from attending rides and meet-ups as I work weekends.
Would be great to meet marrib, but taking Mrs mofo for a weekend in Solvang this weekend.

That's what wives and SO's are for. We men don't spend so much money on appliances and electronics just to have them sit unused. Heck, we spend so much on our bikes, and used them.

Nice pair of rides. Gotta love the contrast, blend of lines, textures and symmetry.

Thanks! Trigger pulled and very happy myself that I'm keeping both bikes. I hope to get my wife out on the new bike this weekend. I'm sure they'll get along well. The pillion on the CB looks to be more comfortable than what we have on the 6th gen. I'm hoping looks aren't deceiving!

Oh, how I wish that were true. I'm the laundry guy in our house. I'm damn good at it too. Luckily, for both of us, she's the cook. Although I do make a mean grilled cheese sandwich.
