A four-day Big Bear ride sounds amazing. Have a great time. What is the DS group? A ride along the 94 would would be a lot of fun. The photo in my avatar was taken on the 94. There's a guy who on weekends usually posts up around a particular curve and takes photos of cars and bikes as they ride by and then posts them on his website for purchase. The 94 to Sunrise Highway would take us over Mt. Laguna then down into Julian. We could stop for lunch and have some famous Julian apple pie then wind our way back. I'd be up for riding north and seeing some of your favorite roads too. Let's definitely make this happen. Here's a photo from a few weeks back on that same stretch of road. The photo is more straight on but I really liked how the headlights in the camera look. On my computer, it almost looks as if the lights are shining off the screen.
I made the drive north and met OOTV and his lovely wife yesterday! Oh, and their schnoodle (I think that's what I was told he is) who gave me the stink eye for the better part of my visit but by the end, didn't growl, gave me a sideways, almost accepting glace, and allowed me to pet his back for a second. This was my first time meeting someone from the forum in person and it couldn't have gone better. Truly a great guy. So, as OOTV did 99.9% of the work, I sat around and talked and tried not to be feel as useless as I was. It was cool to watch how the bearings were put in and mounting the tires went pretty smoothly. OOTV's perfect track record of not messing up wheels remains unblemished. The wheels are balanced, with white wheel weights no less! Afterwards, we enjoyed a couple of Luganitas while sitting on the outdoor patio which Mrs. OOTV keeps SPOTLESS, and talked bikes, forum members, and music. The finished product: Today, I'm getting those beauties back on the bike then going through "the drill" and, if all checks out well, going for a ride. I'll post some more photos later. Thanks OOTV! You're a class act. Let's definitely get together again soon with the wives and do a ride through Malibu. It's a little bit of a jaunt for us but we'll just find a place to stay up there and ride back the next morning. Tell the Mrs. that the band last night was amazing. She would have loved it!
No worries MG, glad to be of service. The wife said she's sending a check for the Spotless remark! and maybe the next time that Strangelove plays we'll check them out. Doing Malibu on a Saturday would be the ticket, there's a B&B that we checked out (didn't get to stay yet) and it's a pretty nice place, it's tucked away up in Topanga Canyon. I'll see if I can find the name and send that to you. Let me know what weekend works for you and the wife. Note that the weekend of Sep 13th the wife won't be available and I won't be on the weekend of Sep 27th. Cheers!
