I bought my 2006 VFR800 as a leftover in 2008 - and haven't put much mileage on it in the last few years because of numerous time and other issues.

I want to start riding more but after getting back in the saddle a couple of months ago I realize that even after just 20 minutes of riding I start to get bad cramps in my right hand and so forth.

I've picked up a pair of Heli-Bars, and after thinking about it a little I've decided I'd like to add heated grips and either a Kaoko or Throttlemeister throttle lock while I'm at it. I'd like to do it all at once instead of having to potentially take the bars apart a number of times.

I just ran across the G2 Throttle tamer tonite too while doing a little research and I'm wondering if I should add that in while I'm at it.

What I'm concerned about is whether the Kaoko or the Throttlemeister willl work with one of the G2 Throttles and maybe the Hondaline heated grips installed.

Thanks in advance for any help / direction

When you install the Heli-bars, you will have transfer (remove and re-install) stock bar end dampers, which is a PITA.

I chose to buy better dampers, which greatly reduced the vibrations and numbness, plus reduces the install time greatly too.

Yeah - I was factoring that in. I've read thru a few of the how to pages I ran across and they all mention that taking off the bar ends is a pain.

So I was figuring on just avoiding the whole issue by just either buying new ones - or installing a Throttlemeister or Kaoko throttle lock.

I just ran across the Vibranator a few minutes ago while doing some more searching. Now I'm wondering if I should get a set of those , but since they come with their own bar ends - it looks like installing those would exclude putting on a throttle lock like the Throttlemeister or Kaoko.

I supposed I could always just add real cruise control. I was mostly thinking of the throttle lock so I could take my hand off the throttle occasionally and relieve some of the pain. Putting the Heli-Bars and Vibranators on might reduce that to a point where having the throttle lock would be less important.

I've put over 5000 miles on the Heli-bars/Vibranators combination with out any numbness and cramps. It's a combination of vibrations and leaning to hard on grips. I use thick foam grips, which makes it better.

Hard to imagine sometimes cos you need to hold on to the bars of course be t you can hold them too tight and get cramp that way. I know I used to.try holding on but keeping your fingers not so tightly gripped. Particularly on the motorway/highway

+1 on the Vibranators. Combine with Helibars and Grip Puppies and you will be golden.

I have a 2006 as well and put Heli Bars and Throttlemeister (heavy ones) on and love that set up. I can't speak to the Vibranators, but I would go with my set up again in a heart beat.

    Just my two Lincolns...

    Good Luck.

    Anti vibration bar ends

That is a great idea !! :stung: I just bought mine from http://www.hvmp.com/Honda-s/2.htm

I bought the super heavy ones.

I had them on my 2011 BMW F800R that cancelled all the vibrations in the handles bars. Mind you, that bike has a coarse twin motor and loads of vibrations sent to the handlebars...

Agree with Long. Handle the grips like you would a fine woman's smooth breasts, not like a carpenter's frameing hammer.

Heli Bars, Throttlemeister, and Grip Puppies over the top of OEM bars. I have that setup on 2 07's including the OEM bar weights and love it. Didn't know about the Vibranators when I did mine.
If you haven't been riding for a long time it is only natural to support yourself by your wrists. But your body core should be holding you up off of your wrists and will after only a few days if you concentrate on that aspect while loosening your grip in the bars.

Grip Puppies over the top of the OEM grips, not bars.

Had a friend that carried little ball bearings in his tank bag, mostly for tail gaters....that was of course before cell phones. Flicked it over his shoulder. .
FU man. Randy dont know if your driving rigs, but when I heavy hauled, always had a spray bottle mixed with half baby oil and water....anyone tailgating or just screwing with me I would just role down the window and give um a few squirts.....worked everytime. ...

Best of luck on selling the Harley. Where do you dudes sell those leatherbar costumes? Is there a big market for those?
