Well, my luck ran out! Got stopped couple of weeks ago in my hometown, Hernando, MS. Don't speed there!
Cop said I was doing 72 in a 55. The ticket was $227.00. I now have a map of the city limits in my county & now
take it easy in the limits but it's wide open in the county as the sheriff's dept. doesn't have radar. It won't be my last
ticket tho, I get 1 or 2 every year. Gotta pay to play, eh.

$500 fine, traffic school & 10 hours community service. Was looking at $2500 & criminal offense of reckless driving, so not so bad....

Compared to what it could have been, that's not as bad. But still a stupid ticket, just revenue generation. Pure and simple.

I think you will find that a good majority of motor officers are pretty cool guys doing one of the best (funnest) jobs in law enforcement. Most of them are into bikes and would rather stand around talking about bikes than hanging paper. I speak from experience since I did the gig for a few years on a sweet KZ1000P. Once I met my "performance standard" for the day I was free to do whatever I wanted which was usually backing other officers on calls (with no paperwork), assisting traffic investigators on accidents, or patrolling wherever I wanted. But our unit paid our own way plus and it was a huge revenue generator for the city's general fund. Some of the funniest stuff I have either seen or heard was working off my motor.

There are plenty of Dbags in any field and most of us wouldn't go after a violator if it wasn't worth the risk to pursue in traffic. There are plenty of idiots out there that desperately need a ticket more than a biker doing 10 over the posted limit. If ever stopped just respond "I have no idea why you stopped me officer". If you get a ticket any response you give will end up on the back of the ticket as a reference in court for the officer.

Other than riding a desk now at work I have a blast on my 95 VFR and 2005 Goldwing. Let the good times roll.

How do you afford that car and bike and catfood only making ten bucks an hour? Does that catfood taste like chicken?

Did you even look for a defense attorney that specializes in traffic citations? Dude, you just got fucked. I would hate to see what your insurance tab will be upon renewal if there is one.

Is a performance standard anything like a quota? ;)

One thing I have never understood is why there are no ride along programs for motor officers or stealth bikes like the Ford mustangs for the car guys.

Or a black&white "BUSA." Have seen them in Wyoming in a magazine possibly, little foggy here. All the motor-coppers use HD here, they hate Kawasakis and intentionally blew up all the ST1300 turds :pound:

Used to talk to quite a few of "them" in NJ when I used to roll into the dealership as their bikes were serviced there. They went year round in Newark/Bellville and most of them did'nt even own street bikes, their answer was, "i spend 8 hours on a bike, why would i want one for pleasure?"

Foggy is the new fuzzy or is that backward? One definition of backward is riding a Harley for even a few minutes..

Got pulled over in Edmond, OK last night. Or rather, I pulled over and waited on him to get there. I was coming out of a right hand turn into a 45mph zone and pinned it for a second. Got it going about 70 and saw his running lights come on in the median. I shut it down and pulled into the nearest parking lot to wait. Took him a minute to get there lol. Already had the helmet off and he pulls up and says "Good day for it, huh?" I said "Yes sir, just having a little fun, it gets the best of me sometimes." To which he replies "Watch out for traffic and keep an eye on your mirrors." He left without even getting out of the car. Pretty cool guy. I have to assume he rides in his free time. Overall a good experience, sobering but good.

    Badbilly..... Exactly

I would choose a Kawi over a Harley in a heartbeat. We rode our KZ's up and down stairs, curbs, off road with no issues. If you laid it down at slow speed the only damage was a pig tailed lever and maybe a mirror. I rode escort detail for one president and one vice president. The Harley's from the highway patrol couldn't keep up. The secret service briefing consisted of "if you go down in front of the motorcade we will do our best not to hit you, but we stop for no one". I have seen a few Busa's in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol but it's been awhile.

The guy I bought my VFR from was one of the Oklahoma state troopers with a Hayabusa. They really only ride them for showing off to kids and whatnot. I believe they were drug-bust seizures.

Growing up in SOCAL, HD's were used both by CHP and LAPD more as tradition than anything else. SPD (Seattle) had Kawi's and the State Patrol uses BMWs. A few BMWs on SPD too. Mixed bag now.. I suppose there is a site that lists who rides what and where. What would be interesting is to find how many motor officers who are stuck with HDs would change rides if given the opportunity or what other bikes they personally own.

I spend time on the Oregon Coast. No police bikes that I know of on the entire coast. More than a bunch of LEOs who ride all kinds of bikes. The best guys in the world to stop me when frisky takes over my throttle hand. ;)

No citations for eight years.. Warnings? I ain't gonna say..

The wife and I rode the Oregon Coast on the Goldwing back in July and had a blast. Did about 5400 miles in 9 days. Doing highway 50 through Nevada kinda sucked balls.

Bunches of bikes on 101 in July and August. The bike traffic sort of drops off in January. ;) Years ago Nevada had no speed limit...
