You can be 99% sure the tipover switch shut your bike off! If your buddy that rode it home remembers, ask him if the bike started right away. When the tipover switch is activated it will not start until reset. The way it gets reset is to turn the ignition on, then turn it off, and turn it on again. If you do not know this you will try to start the bike and it will not start then you will shut if off and try to start it again and it will work just fine. You have just reset the tipover switch without even knowing it! Ask your buddy if he remembers it not starting on the first try!

I did not know that. Thanks. Now this makes me wonder why, with the number of times I laid mine down, that was never an issue. But come to think of it, the few times I laid mine down where the engine was running, the engine did quit, I think. But I didn't have to go through that sequence to start it, not that I remember anyways. Then again, I am nearly as old as dirt so I may have and forgot.

It might be that after your bike was down you turned the key off and once it was upright again you turned the key on and it cycled and reset at that point.

Ya. That could be. It is sometimes quite interesting what your instincts will make you do.

Zero, I didn't even think about your newer bike having the tip over switch. Older bikes don't have that feature. So the engine should be okay.

I think the tipover switch came about just about the time Honda recalled all the old style gas caps that just had a button to open them. They fitted all the bikes with a key style cap that any key would open including a screwdriver. The old caps, in a crash, the rider would slide forward and in some cases open the cap. Gas spilling out at a crash scene is never a pretty picture. That was, I think late seventies! I'm sure the tipover switch came sometime after that! Good Idea! Ignition off on tipover is much safer.

Scrolling up a bit we find our busted up guy laying his bike down to avoid a head on collision with a car in a round about. I think he was going the wrong way on the roundabout so yes, it was his fault. With all that sage advice I am prepared to buy his bike for five pesos cash and autograph his casts for free.

Going the wrong way on a round about even below 70-75MPH improves the reflexes and can even lead to a TV appearance. Do you think five pesos is aboot right? I was thinking maybe kicking him in his broken leg first to get the price down. I am a firm believer of the no pain no gain school.

Round abouts are fucking dangerous IMO. Can't count the number of close calls I've had with those things. Even worse for pedestrians. We had them removed in our neighborhood.

I'd have taken the insurance and picked up a replacement bike.

    Anus Lupus?

Maybe sometime in future, tipover switches will improve to the point where they can send an audible to a Bluetooth comm system that would say something like, "You just fell over Dude" maybe even using celebrity voices like Homer Simpson. Or maybe even a text message to Facebook so everyone in the universe can share the experience.

A really slick version would be a pressurized cylinder with fake blood in it. This would be great for insuring a TV appearance on the local news and maybe even Utube. For the DIYers a small plastic bottle of liquid laundry starch and red food color will do in a pinch.

Yes I did dumb it down some. As everyone can see, it took you awhile to get it. Have you perhaps availed yourself of a literate shemale in a newfound two birds with one rock scenario?
