It's possible to get all new linings for Shoei helmets. I have an X-11 I particularly like as it almost perfectly matches my RC51's colours and is a well functioning helmet even at high speeds.
I think I spent around $100 replacing all the inside. It was like a new helmet afterward, even smelt like one...

Let us know how you get on with the GT Air if you try it.

You can wash the inside of your helmet with your favourite hair shampoo. Also makes it smell nice and the amount of grunge removed is incredible.

Thanks.. I have never bought anything off Ebay. I use it to get realistic prices on photo equipment. Worth a look anyway on the helmet. BMW dealers are not noted for much at discount..

My dealer would give me 15% off but that it  Sale tax alone would eat up the discount.
Here is a quick search on fleebay. Some are new and some are lightly used.

15% is good. Are you doing some business with them? No sales tax in Oregon. I will take a look on Ebay. I buy stuff off CR but before I turn loose with any pesos I speak with them over the phone or have several Email conversations. Again photo stuff.. Lots of scammers and folks that think because a film camera is 30 years old it's a valuable antique. Just spotted one where this dude is selling a fliash for $250.00 (used) and for ten more pesos, about ten places have brand new ones with no tax and free shipping. More Caveat Emptor..

On the average the C3 goes for less than $650, and the C3 Pro for just under $800, the SRC comm system goes for $399. Note that there are a few subtle differences in the C3 and C3 Pro, but the SRC comm system has a big difference. The new comm system uses the antenna inside the new C3 Pro helmet where as the older com had the antenna built into the neck roll assembly of the comm system.

    Which means:
    C3 Pro + New SRC = OK
    C3 + New SRC = Not OK
    C3 Pro + Old SRC = OK
    C3 + Old SRC = OK

Also, the Hi-Viz version of either helmet are usually a little more, but if the C3/C3 Pro women's helmet fits, they're going for less than $500!

    Cheers

I was looking closely at the C3 and almost talked myself into letting Peggy buy it for me for my birthday. However I have the Scala Rider G4 and there is a slider right where the Scala Rider mounts on the side of the helmet, so that complicates things. The new Nolan N-104 has the same kind of slider in the same area. Irksome.

I only wear Arai helmets (just picked up a new Signet Q today).

If Arai didn't make helmets I'd get a Shoei and if they didn't make helmets I wouldn't ride. ;)

I know that my helmets get looser over time. I've always assumed that the Styrofoam-type liner compressed a bit. I have always preferred my helmets to be tight fitting, but not so tight I get pressure points.

The have ECE and DOT ratings and I paid around $200.00. I bought a matching one for the wife too so she could looks as cool as me.

I'm not sure if the more expensive helmets are actually safer or not as they all have the same ratings. I figure that if they will let me on the track with it, it must be adequate. With teen age daughters, I don't have much cabbage laying about these days so I need to watch my expenses.

That said, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything with this helmet.

I've had my Bell helmets and a number of Shoei's and even an Icon which worked rather well suprisingly.

Some Harley dealers carry a rattlecan stuff you spray on your whole head to compensate for buying a helmet that is too small. They get this stuff from some dudes from a tribe in South America someplace.

For the geographically challenged, South America is not the Confederate States.

I have the Scorpion EXO-1100 - had it for 2 years. It's a good quality and I like the inflatable cheek pads for a tighter fit; but the last 900 km roadtrip the windnoise got to me, so this winter, when sales are on, I'll be looking for one that's -quiet-. The new Schuberth C3 Pro Intensity is looking might fine so far :)

I love My new neotech. Everything about it is top shelf. Great optics. Drop down sunscreen has no annoying border line under. Quiet enough on the highway. Great vents. All good.
