Ok first let me say that installing this or probably any modification to the rear of the bike on the side stand is not advisable. Use the center stand people. Can someone instruct me on the proper way to put my bike on the center stand. This hugger was a @itch to put on using the side stand.

    Notes to consider.

have a 3 mm L shaped hex bolt. those multitools dont help because of the tight spaces.
Remove left side passenger peg. Makes getting at the bolts that much easier.

Red fox uses two screws and a tie down strap.

The hugger was easy to install. Leave the protective covering on the hugger until you finish the install. No need to scratch the finish.
Red Fox's hugger uses ABS plastic and it is thick. Not flimsy at all.

I wont go into the actually install instructions because they are included an also here http://www.red-fox.com/vfr800_vtec/

I will include some before and after pics.

The pics are in no particular order: the thickness of the hugger, before the hugger, after the hugger, the hugger itself

The only thing I didnt like and this is probably a problem of single sided swing arm huggers is that it is hard to be perfectly centered. I played around with it and it is basically centered, but not perfect for me. So if anyone knows any tips then let me know.

    Price paid $162 US

I like that. It looks nice and I bet it will help keep things clean.

I was always taught to put the bike up on its center stand that you hold it upright, put one hand on the left handle bar and the other one under the seat or close to it (I use the passenger handle bars on my 97)

Take your right foot and put it on the center stand and give a push down until it contacts with the ground.

Give a push down like you are kick starting a bike (not violently) while lifting up on the back end. It should pop up fairly easily.

when using the stand, as you are holding up the bike with the clip on and passenger handle, keep it upright and neutral don't push too far away from you whatever you do. If its leaning a bit toward you, you can more easily use your strength and body, if you push it away you are done(ive done it not fun in like 94'). As the stand starts hitting ground you will feel flat spot. The motion is more a stepping down on the foot part than a lifting using your arms. Always on a total flat and good luck!

thanks hfam95. I will look into getting a Red Fox hugger. I saw one online but can't remember the website so I'll have to do some more searching but I liked it because it was carbon fiber. I'm thinking it'll look real good on my bike being the black pearl. Will keep you informed.
What exhausts, if any, are you looking into getting?

i actually like the stock exhaust. The hugger is not actually carbon fiber. its 5mm abs plastic. You can get the gloss black or carbon fiber "look". Dont let that stop you though. I like it.

Question, I have several fender Huggers on my bikes & as I see in your pics, you mounted the hugger on top of the chain gaurd ?????

All mine replaces the chain gaurd & even the one in your pics looks like the hugger replaces your chain guide, but in your pic, it looks like you mounted it on top of the chain gaurd  ????

If so, maybe thats why a bitch to mount ???

I may be wrong because your other pic's look blurred

yeah. There are several VFR huggers. Most of them do not replace the chain guard. I only know of one place that replaces it. Its made by grc or something like that and goes for 465 Australian dollars. I didnt want to pay that much.

The red fox attaches to the chain guard via two screws that hole the brake lines.

The thread title basically had the site address. www.red-fox.com
As someone else said, it isn't actually carbon fibre, just looks like it.

I got one last year, from memory it took just over 1 week to arrive.

I am considering getting one. I have a Ohlins rear shock that is getting constantly dirty and having this hugger seems to be the way to go.

Question, how is removing the rear wheel with one of those huggers installed?

I am not sure. It doesn't look like it would be in the way. You would have to ask someone else. Anybody?

Thurn also makes one that replaces the chain guard, in carbon fiber. Although I got the GCC one myself.

Thurn's website is nonexistent since I started looking and GCC = big bucks. Looks like the only other choices are redfox, pyramid (nws), and powerbronze. Easy choice IMO. NWS has changed the design since being bought out and powerbronze is garbage.

Hmmm, I wonder if any of the Duc huggers would work ?

I sent a E-mail to OPP racing to see what they got & if will work.
The specialize in Carbon fibre & not bad prices.

I'll reply on what they e-mail back & tell me ..
