Pair Mod without plates?

    So there seem to be to camps on this mod. (several sites & blogs)
    1. Disconnect power to the valves and disable their operation.
    2. Disconnect, remove and block off with plates.

    It seems that those that have just disconnected the power report improvement as far as smoother transitions on lower rpm's as well as high rmp's. I read on Johnny Chadda .se about the simple disconnection of power to the pair valves works without having to removed them or install plates. Of course someone brought a good point that if power is removed from the valves they remain open and therefore this is not the correct way to do this mod. He reference a manual but does state which gen or year he's talking about?

    Someone mention that this is not so on all generation viffers. He states that the 6th gen (he's referring to his 2008 model & manual) pair valves remain closed unless the ecm sends current to the solenoid which opens the valve. So then disconnecting the connector on a 2002 – 2009 models should effectively shut off the pairs system. I'm reading my 2002-2008 Honda service manual on 3-18 (Secondary Air Supply System) & I see no mention of the effects of removing power to the valves?

    Can anybody enlighten me on whether the 6th gen (2007 model I have) will indeed have the pairs system disable if power is disconnected.

    I can't comment specifically on the 6th gen. but the 5th gen PAIR system definitely opens the air supply when the valve is energized by the ECM. So disconnecting the power supply would leave the PAIR system always open. This is covered off in the shop manual section 21. The 6th Gen manual is not quite as specific, but there is a mention (5-87) of testing the PAIR solenoid that says the valve should open when 12v is applied. So to me that says the 6th gen is the same as the 5th gen in that regard. Hope that helps.

    Just came back from a ride & she def handles a bit better on low rpm's. I was able to take off from 2nd from a rolling stop where before I would turn into a rattling vibrator.
