Sorry to hijack - is that an LED light you have where the reflector was?

At 4000 miles on my PR4s now & I'm extremely happy with them in all road conditions.

THAT SAID, the rear has begun to flatspot & I'll be surprised if I get 6000 miles out of it before it's gone (probably less). I was hoping to get more, although I do ride quite aggressively. This is a commuter bike so lots of highway time = flat spotted tire.

The front is wearing evenly & has plenty of tread left. Never had a moments trouble with it.

Going to try a PR2 on the rear next to see if I get any longer life (cheaper, too).

I will say the PR4s are outstanding in the wet as well as dry.

Take the tyre off and go to a tyre repair shop! If you do one of those vulcanized radial patches from the inside, its as good as new (raced on them.) A plugged tyre? I would ride to the dealer to repair/replace. I have plugs in my car tyres, but I am in a cage. I have a bmw tyre repair kit and have used it once in my riding career, high quality plugs for sure, not the beef jearky looking stuff.

Your pal Murphy got you, sucks to pick up a nail on a new tyre like that regardless. :vtr2:

The nail was right in the bottom of a sipe in the center of the tire. By the time I get down to it, the tire will need to be replaced. It holds air like a champ & hasn't been a lick of trouble, so I'm just going to ride it~

well good luck, where them tyres wear oot replace em with more quality rubbers. I cheaped oot on my jeep and had blow oots and multiple nails, even had to go to a specialty shop to have two tyres high speed balanced. Its pretty wild how they do it, jack the vehicle up, then they take a machine that looks like its 100 years old to the raised tyre, then they spin it up to around 100 mph, once the tyre stops they knock a wheel weight on it, and re-due the drill. So, its a by feel/experience and an arbitrary placement of wheel weights to get it not to vibrate. It worked and cost me $45.00 for two tyres. Before this, I got a vibration that was exciting my mother-in-law and enough to spill my "roadie." Cheers

Back on topic; I decided against the PR2 & ordered another PR4 today from revzilla.com. I have a 1600 mile trip to TN planned over the 4th of July & need to have a solid tire for that. Front tire still looks great.

Approaching 5000 miles on the pair now. These are fantastic tires. I know there are miles left on the rear but like I said don't want to start a long trip on a tire I'm not certain will make it back.

Just road home in the rain (forgive the gravel/sand...from the driveway)--

190/50 won't steer quite as quickly (so I hear), but you'll have a little more potential lean angle to deal with. Given that the VFR will drag hard parts with a 180/55, I'd just stay with the stock size, but each to his own.

For those of you getting flat spotted in the middle of the rear, run them at Honda recommended pressure. I was running 75-100 miles a day commute with my previous set of PR3 and I noticed that lower pressure flatted the middle. I am running 36/42 on my 05 per spec and they are doing great! Good grip, good wear and little quicker turn in. I think a little better mileage too.

Just an FYI; have over 5,000 miles on my PR4s now; front tire is still in good shape but the rear will be replaced next week. Incidentally, not an ounce of trouble out of the plug in over 4500 miles~

Got about 4,300mi on mine and they both look and feel pretty good, whats your minimum tread depth on the rear?

Not sure, but the rear is pretty much toast in the center:

Obviously, I need to start doing less commuting & more carving~

Mine still look good at ~5800mi, and I did a track day on them. However, most of those miles are highway/commuting. There's the odd twisty and on-ramp, but I think they've resisted flatting in the middle quite nicely.
