I bought a 95 VFR that was in pieces, and now I'm to the point that its almost back together....minus a few pieces. Had to order a fuel pump relay and some fasteners but for one set of fasteners, I have no clue what I need. Where the rear fairing bolts into place, the lower front fastener hole shows to use one of the standard hex head fasteners with a rubber grommet. This is the one just behind and below the pin that pushes through the rubber grommet.

Where this hole in the fairing is, is also where some sort of bolt goes through that bolts the lower rear of the subframe into place. So do the factory subframe bolts (which I'm missing and used regular 10mm bolts) have a drilled and threaded portion that the fairing fastener threads into? I went down to the Honda dealer today and their picture looked almost identical to the one above. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not following your description. Can you highlight what you are looking at on your picture? I can check my 97 tonight.

The top part that is circled is one of the standard fasteners used everywhere else. The bottom one however is the part I'm missing. Like I said, it also goes through the bottom mount of the rear subframe and threads into the frame itself. Thanks!

Hard to explain but that lower mount threads into a dual functioning bolt. The bolt holds the subframe to the main frame and the head of that bolt also has a threaded center hole. The much smaller fairing bolt threads into this head. Make sense?

If you don't see this threaded hole in the bolt head, then my guess is the previous owner used a standard bolt instead.

Didn't see the text under the picture the first time. Yup, you have the wrong bolts and will need the special honda items. I'm sure they're cheap (sarcasm).

See, thats another thing that was weird, when I was at the Honda dealer, his picture only showed a rubber grommet, no special bolt. I think I'll just drill and tap a regular bolt. Thanks guys!

I havent had my 4th gen for a while, but the missing part is a hex shaped bolt about 15 mm high and also threaded down the middle.
    - Use the Honda part - they may go 5 buck each, you only need 2, but you wont find yourself with a seat/body part detaching in the middle of some twistys either.
