Hmm I would think putting a GUN MOUNT in the intake would restrict air flow but what do I know.

FYI: No filter or airflow restriction is going to "lean out" a fuel injected vehicle. They have a Mass Airflow Sensor that adjusts the fuel or incoming air. At worst, intake restriction would limit top end power.

The VFR only uses a Manifold Air Pressure sensor. There is no airflow sensor like there is on an automobile. If there were, people wouldn't be able to throw their snorkels in the trash.

For the love of god, someone shoot this thread.
Now look what you've done, you've sucked me in.

The pair valve is a pollution device. That is it, it introduces fresh air into the exhaust gases to finish burning excess fuel in the pipes left over after combustion, and they only open on a closed throttle (overrun).
All that removing them does, is removes the annoying popping noises from exhaust on overrun.
I've done it on mine because the noise annoyed the crap out of me, & to remove excess junk from top of motor.
The snorkel and flapper valve are a performance item & has to do with air velocity and pressure to velocity stacks, if you think that millions of dollars of development and multiple engineers got it wrong, then by all means remove them. Disconnecting the flapper will make the bike starve for air at high revs, and removing it will make the bike lose bottom end.
Air box mods are like people who think that replacing the header pipes with after market ones will improve performance, highly unlikely, it takes a very expensive hand built job to make any improvement.

Go ride and enjoy the VFR for what it is, a great all rounder with personality.

I had a mate years ago who would spend all his money on performance upgrades, and would sit there talking for hours explaining how the mods had transformed his bike and why, the bit that never changed was when we left for a ride together, he always arrived at the destination ten minutes after everyone else. And the old bloke with the standard old bike, who had never even adjusted the suspension since he had bought it, was always first.

WeLL I like to tinker, but none told me what size wrench adj throttle cable by the engine-the cable has some slack. -I lube the cable but that stinky little bolt-nut was so small I didn't have a wrench to fit it.:soap:

I'm confused  what part are you disputing? The image documenting the lack of a mass airflow sensor comes from Honda's official website world.honda.com

the vfr does adj for a after market air filter like the piper cross-how it does this I don't care.:horn::hi2::laugh::kc10: The pair valve does actually help in cold starts-so for now its working-best to leave it alone for now-later on I will remove it with block off plates. Still don't know what size the throttle adj screw nut is, maybe 6mm. As usual I answer my own questions.:smiley_simmons::fencing::pisser:

I'll answer anyway; the ECU measures barometric pressure, intake manifold pressure (also called manifold air pressure), all weighed against throttle position to figure airflow and adjust fuel flow.

What I have gathered from reading this thread is to leave the bike alone? I think my model of early 5th gen has a lot less crap on it than later models and vtec bikes have anyway.
