Hey everyone, I am not quite that new but it's been awhile since I posted. I recently got back on to a VFR, a 1993 in White with about 20k miles. She is intact and starts right up, just needs a little bit of TLC to make her perfect. When I first joined the forum, I had a couple of 86 VF500's that were new to me as far as working on them and getting them running and this site has been extremely helpful. Little did I know those two little miniceptors would give me the VFR bug. This one I will probably not end up selling. She is in too good of condition to let go, or mess with cosmetically. I look forward to chatting with everyone especially on the 3rd and 4th gen pages. As far as the work my new VFR needs, fork seals are number one. She's a little leaky and the forks are way too springy. Next is new brake pads all around, and a complete flushing/replacing of all the fluids. After all that is taken care of, I will begin the search for a left side exit exhaust. I've heard the two bros racing exhaust can sometimes be found. After that, I will just keep her running and maintained and enjoy one of the most distinctive and great looking bikes I've ever had.
It might be a good idea to rebuild the brake master cylinders. Kits are available. Bike Bandit has them but they screw you on shipping for small orders,
I've searched in the forums and looked on youtube and watched some vids on rebuilding the forks. This will be my first time doing it. Would anyone happen to know if there is a procedure written up on here that covers that?
That means to me that at some point you were thinking of "chopping it up" make it a "street fighter" or may be even change the color? Good grief, I'm glad you decided to keep it looking like the beauty it is. Welcome, I'm just a few miles from you.
Yeah I saw the build thread by apexandy over at VFR discussion and thought I would give that a try. What I really want is that euro spec cb650 street fighter but with the V4 and SSA. Maybe one day if something should happen to her and all the fairings get shredded, but not now.
