Fairing clip replacements

I bought the NAPA clips mentioned in previous threads and found that they go into the hole, but stick out quite a bit. Any aftermarket clip to buy/order that actually fits somewhat decently? I don't care if they break when I take them out, but I don't want anything falling off my bike when I'm out on a spirited ride...:mad-new:

 

Hi, I found some online, a lot cheaper than what Honda sells, but they are a one use affair, unless there is some way of removing them I don't know about.

I just looked for them and now I can't find them. I know that they were for a GM and it came froma company oonline that sells only clips and fasteners. I'll look.

Found them. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/GM_Wheel_Opening_Moulding_Retainer_19_32_Hd_Dia_p/a19801.htm These fit as flush as the stock ones, but they are difficult to remove, I have to cut them out. There is probably a way to remove them, but I don't yet know how.

 

Google "Bolt Fasteners" . Look for sportbike faring clips. The 6th gen uses the M6 clip. Tight fit bit they work great and are not a single use clip.

 

Due to the comment above regarding the M6 Bolt, are you looking for the bolts, i.e. to attach the fairings to the fairing stays or are you looking for the plastic clips used variously in the fairings, such as to attach the bottom of the fairings together?

 

The game by suppliers and dealers is to have their own names for things. This was invented by various governments.

Here on the left coast they are called push rivets.

Somewhere in the archives there are outfits that sell all the parts (??) needed for attaching a fairing. Aboot 50 pesos.

The M6, should be first shown on this page, work great for the 6th Gen. Maybe will fit yours too. They should have what you are looking for. The fit is tight but they work well and are reusable and less prone to breaking than the OEM.

 

If you're talking about the black plastic ones, I just ordered a bag of ones from this page.

Part number 91020A438 , $12 for a small bag of 50. They work great and I don't care if they break coming out (but so far they don't).

 

Thanks for the links. I've ordered 10 from boltmotorcyclehardware and 10 from wire my bike, just to see which are better. Previous owner of this bike put the old OEM ones back in after...numerous uses and they're not nearly as stable as I'd like.

 

Most of this is a good reminder that your friendly OEM dealer ain't so friendly pricewise on a whole shitload of stuff.
